It does matter actually! I do not want my children in the care of an individual who has less than honorable qualities in how they live their life. Does that mean they can NEVER have a drink of wine in public at a restaurant? Nope! Just use their good judgment in how they present themselves.

I am a teacher/MS Counselor myself and would never compromise my position by becoming drunk, or cursing or being out of control in any way. As far as dressing the part of teacher, I was told a long time ago the I live in this town as well as being a teacher to most all the people who have been through school here since 1981. As a citizen, I also have a life outside of school and my job. I feel like I should be able to be myself and wear shorts to the grocery store or Wal Mart if I choose to do so. It is part of the job responsibility you take on to present yourself in a responsible role and to set a good example to children's eyes.

Teachers should behave in a respectable manner since they are role models for children. They should not be seen drunk in public or at certain kinds of hang-outs, like strip bars. They need to have a good reputation.
