I have been a vegetarian for 4 months now. On Valentine's day, my husband took me out and I ruined it. I thought I could eat meat once and go back to not eating it. But I couldn't. Now it seems I have been eating way too much meat. Like a serving or 1.5 servings at every meal. I'm beginning to worry I am eating way too much meat (beef and chicken). It just really tastes good after not eating it for a while. I rarely ate meat before becoming a vegetarian, that's way it was so easy to be one for so long.

So, what should I do? How much meat is too much?

Your appetite for meat will probably get less once you get over the residuals of denying it for so long.
As long as you make sure you ALSO get enough fruit, vegetables and grains, you don't have to worry about eating too much meat.
One thing though: Meat takes longer to digest than other foods and can weigh down your colon. Make sure you have at LEAST 2 bowel movements per day.

Yes too much animal protein can make your body sick. A serving is 3 oz. (like the size of a deck of cards) And you should go vegetarian at least once a week or more i think. There is nothing wrong with meat but you have to eat it in moderation and make sure it does not have hormones. Get meat from health food stores not fast food places, restaraunts or stores that put hormones, nitrates/nitrites, into the meat.

there is this book out called "The China Study" and it relates to a study in China, why Chinese people are so healthy. Americans are eating way too much meat, which can lead to heart attacks and other cancer. I strongly recommend you reading this book, it will make you realize how much healthier you should be. In this book, it says you should have very minimal amount of meat, once a week is plenty. hih!

Sounds to me like your body needed the protein. Don't you just love a good steak? I wouldn't worry too much about eating too much meat. You will adjust and things will be fine. If you do find that you need to lose some weight, exercise and watch the junk foods.

any more than one halve pound of meat per day would not be very good, you could try eating more fish it has less harmful fats.
