YES IT IS TRUE, HOWEVER IT CAN REALLY BURN YOUR GUMS SO JUST BE CAREFULL! IT CAN STING

It is true that baking soda whitens teeth or so I have heard. Some toothpastes contain baking soda.

Baking soda is abrasive and will cause wear on your teeth after a while. If you just want a mild lightening of the colour, try the whitestrips, they work well and they are safe to use.

My mom use to do it all the time... but I don't think it is good for them in the long run. Your best bet is to talk to your dentist about it. They will have a real answer for you.
