Being as healthy as you can be is a not so well kept secret. People just ignore it because they live to eat instead of eating to live. Here's more on that:

Here’s all you need to lose weight and get healthy. First, you have to realize there is no quick, long lasting weight loss plan or pill that is going to do the trick. It’s purely mental. You have to learn to “Eat to live, don’t live to eat”. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? It is, if you understand that you are going to be reprogramming how you think about eating for the next few weeks. Old habits die hard, right? Not really. You get rid of bad habits by replacing them with good habits. If you learn to count your calories, keep calorie intake lower than output, exercise moderately, and eat only healthy food, you will lose weight. That’s a fact. All it takes is repetition. All success stories have this in common: The successful folks among us know how to be patient, persistent, and consistent. Set a goal and stick with it. The benefits of feeling good will outweigh any sense of sacrifice you might feel about having to push away that cake and ice cream. there are lots of products that could help you,if you want to lose weight, improve your health generally, and have more energy then getting some nutritional help is vital. Once your body starts to absorb the right nutrients and vitamins and protein then you’ll be amazed how quickly you will feel the difference, usually within the first 48 hours if you get the right supplements and help. I had no energy and felt just generally rotten all round so I sought the advice of a nutritional coach (whose advice was FREE) and got myself some great products, I even got free samples before I got started so I could see just how good they were!! There is a website called myhealthabc.com If go on there and fill out the details page you will get a call with no pressure about what you need. There is a mall area as well that’s got some great info and its all set out with easy to follow headings so you can find what you want. It’s so easy and the stuff they have is excellent. I have been using their products for over two years and I feel great. I lost 70 pounds in less than seven months!! My sister lost 60 pounds in five months. The stuff is amazing

1. DRINK A LOT OF WATER.
2. eat breakfast at 6:30 every morning
3. keep your heart level up for at least 2 hours/day
4. eat lunch consisting of fruits and vegetables and meat at 12:00pm
5. eat a snack at 3pm of fruit
6. eat a light supper no later than 6:30pm.
The reason that I say start at 6:30am is because it will stimulate your metabolism and the earlier you eat, the more breakfast you can eat
The reason that I say at least 30 min of aerobic exercise/day is because the longer that you keep your heart rate up the more energy you burn.
The reason that I have put you on a schedule of times to eat is because this schedule keeps your metabolism up. The later that you eat supper, the more likely that the calories that you consume at dinner will turn to fat.
I suggest a lot of water because it has no calories and it aids the digestive process. I suggest fruit and vegetables because they do not have many calories and they digest easily.
Eat nuts in the morning because they are difficult to digest and will keep you full longer.
Good luck getting into shape.
By the way, if you run for at least 30 minutes/day you can go out to eat 1 time per week.

Give it a month to start to see results. You will lose more without the going out to eat thing. Also, stay away from alcohol

I probably won't convince you but your insightful question is important since it focuses not only in outside appearances but in how you feel inside. My secret is love yourself, yes, love yourself and then you will stop eating junk, being sedentary and start being more active by helping others... what I am trying to say is that there is no magical pill, but to achieve better performance you are required to do things with lots of consistency, hard work and spirituality since the soul, the inside being is essential, since a healthy mind will in turn create a healthy body.

I will speak from own experience. My stats are 38 yrs. old, 5'4", 185 lbs.. . . by US standards I am overweight, in risk of diabetes (from both my parents), and heart disease. ( I have a 'malfunction' since birth called PVC 'premature ventricular contraction') Grim picture isn't it? Not!

Let me tell you how fit (mostly from the inside) I am. I live an bountiful life, have lots of friends, like to cook my own food, compete with my students (I am a high school teacher) and exercise regularly in one form or another, like weekly swimming, bike riding, hiking, or even walking or run a marathon (I've done 20). My cholesterol is 80-85, my blood pressure is 110 / 70. My heart rate is 45-50 bpm, my mind is clear, I have NEVER EVER done drugs except glasses of wine here and there and a chilled beer when it gets too hot. Since I don't like trashing my money in gyms nor equipment, I do my own sit-ups, push ups, pull-ups, and anything that is in between. Most of my students laugh when I challenge them to do push ups, or to arm wrestle. They think they can easily beat me. Only a football player did beat me last year. He was 250+ lbs and he struggled for more that a minute to beat me.

I am not boasting my achievements, since I don't have any, I just try to stay active and think positively and clearly. I do not take any vitamins but do like to read as much as possible from every possible good source. I also practice random acts of kindness and I truly believe that this, is the motor that keeps the rest of me going. In a nutshell, the energy, the health has to come from within not from outside sources.

Have a great life; and, I am certain that you will be making a change in the world by start changing yourself.

Eating the food pyramid.
Sounds cheesy, but if you choose high fiber low calorie whole grains, then the six servings of grains doesn't sink the diet. Meat in 3 oz servings with fish at least twice a week (I do it about 5 times a week).

Best part is that your diet is well-balanced, low in calories, and you don't need to take extra vitamins because you get what you need from your diet.
