maybe after the surgery you need to brush her teeth and stay up on her dental hygiene. they have tooth brushes for cats and also maybe get some chew toys/treats that help take off the plaque. If she doesnt like getting her teeth brushes use a bottle of liquid tooth cleaner that just sprays on her teeth. ask your vet, as well

Hi.

I'm sorry to hear that. What you can do after the surgery, is to prevent the plaque and gingivitis. You can brush your cats teeth, or have the vet do a cleaning on a regular basis.

You can also use a plaque and tartar control product that you add to their water. I use one by Pet Kiss that I buy from Amazon.

Description:
"The blend of Vitamin B, zinc, colorless beet juice and vegetable glycerin helps dissolve plaque and tartar, clean and whiten teeth and restores gum tissue. Simply add to your pets water dish. An easy and effective addition to your pet's dental routine. Contains no chemicals or preservatives. No taste or odor."

I am not affiliated with Pet Kiss, just a user of their products. I never had pets before and I learned what I know from the vets and books, mostly The Cat Owner's Manual.

Good luck on Wednesday!

Have you been feeding the cat mostly canned food or soft food? Dry foods while not always perfectly healthy for an animal will help clean the teeth some. The vet will have more information on it.

Your vet will give you the proper after treatment care instructions. You need to keep her on dry food and stay away from the canned stuff. Chewing dry food stimulates the gums and promotes healthier teeth.

Be sure to follow your vet's instructions and I bet you will have a happier healthier cat.

If she's on a dry food diet you can always add some warm water to it so it's easier for her to eat right after surgery.
