How can it be, or how is her mind working? I met a woman who completely bowled me over. It was a lovely meeting and we got on so well together. She was kind enough to say (without prompting) that I was the loveliest person she had ever met. This was fantastic and seemed sincere. Next thing I know, she tells me she is hoping to get back with her former boyfriend. Now, fair enough, if he is more attractive to her. My question, on pure logic grounds is that if he was so special and she (obviously ) knew him before, why would she go back to him after meeting someone "more lovely"? At the very least, can't I have more of a chance? She must know his good points and his foibles, she has not really got to know me, yet. Ladies. What have I done wrong, please?

Just want to thank EVERYONE who took the trouble to offer an opinion. I appreciate the answers being sensible. As you will guess, I am no spring chicken and ought to know better, but that's love for you.

You have not done anything wrong, so please stop thinking that!! Sometimes we can meet really amazing people but for some strange reason not feel that connection.
Most of the time it is because we are still thinking about someone else, in this case her ex, so we cant connect with someone new.
I'm afraid unless this woman wants to be with you and not her ex boyfriend then there is not much you can do.
Give it some time babe, good luck xxx

She already loves him.

She has only just met you and thinks you are "the lovliest person she has ever met"
Now 'met' is the key word. She doesn't know you as well as her boyfriend. In fact she has only just MET you.

So do you now understand?

Maybe if she was single with no love for another then maybe she might have started to see you.

But she isn't - so move on! Don't get involved in a complicated situation that you may regret.

Find a single woman who is looking for a single man, there are plenty to be found.

Sounds like you haven't done anything wrong at all! Perhaps she got scared and is using the ex bf as an excuse. Or going out with you made her reaslise she still has feelings for her ex. Is she really worth it if like you say she's hasn't given you more of a chance? The games people play! I hate games!

There is no accounting for taste which is why some of the most appalling men seem to do rather well. You should take the compliment and get on with your life - you will meet someone else who puts you first and last. Good luck.

Of course it would seem logical for a person to choose someone who may be kinder etc. I know loads of lovely people, but I am not in love with them. You cant control how you feel about someone. Dont worry, you have done nothing wrong.

dude, she wants the best of both worlds. obviosly shes still in love with the guy and clearly u'v got what it takes to be her man. you are the scape goat, if vibe wit her ex dont work you will be the shoulder to lean on and eventually ya'll will be datin. either way, the chips are in your hands. you could play the fool and wait for pay day, thats if you really like her , or wise up. peace man.

a lady takes second best when she loves him more than her self. Only when she picks up pride and self respect she will then take first place and move away or on
