Don't expect any sustainability out of an open relationship. An open relationship is just a short term fling.

Yes open relationships are ok as long as its ok with both people and both people are ok with an open relationship. Personally not for me I believe in being only with one person but that doesn’t make it wrong to have an open relationship. It just has to be a mutual thing. I would hope that both people would use protection every time.

I was with a girlfriend last year and we were going through a difficult time so we went into an open relationship. While in the open relationship she and I would have unprotected sex (she was on bc) but whenever I had another partner I always used a condom. She promised me she did the same and I trusted her but in all honesty there is no way for me to know if she did or not.

I think open relationships are fine for those who want to be in them. You should always use protection in an open relationship, no matter what, because you never know what any of your partners could be carrying.

fIRST......YES!!!use protection. you really cant be to careful. STDS and Aids are still out there.. cant risk someone lieing for the sake of a shag.
and to me... if your both comfortable with it and jealousy wont be an issue, then try it. But more likely than not one of you will be getting more than the other and that leads to hrut feelings . But good luck. Go into it not just for the sex but as a way to forge a new relationship that is tohelp your main one.

What works for a particular couple is their business...it's not up to others to say it's not okay if what is occuring harms no one.
Protection should be a must though...absolutely. Not fair to subject your relationship partner to an STD you got from a playmate.
