His most famous pieces are 'La Gioconda' (The Mona Lisa) and 'The Last Supper' and not because of 'The Da Vinci Code' since they were already his two most well known pieces way before the book was written!
There are plenty of other pieces too, but these two are what he's most famous for.

Laurie Schneider Adams' "A History of Western Art" sites :
Leonardo da Vinci "The Last Supper" as his "single most important mature work". She also sites his other readily recognised work as: " Mona Lisa". Most Intriguing, her article opens with: "Embryo in the Womb' a pen and ink showing the "...synthesis of art and science." Obviously she intends emphasise this paradine of Renaissance thought. Surprisingly She makes no mention of Leonardo's other note book drawings of engineering marvels perhaps she is reviling a personal preference for the human form in art.

The Last Supper and The Mona Lisa. Incase you need some extra info, people say that the Mona Lisa is smiling because that 's her reaction to DaVinci painting her. The Last Supper is having some work done on it to restore it because the fresco isn't very durable, and that's somewhat controversial.

Two great paintings I love are: "Lady with an Ermine", a portrait of Cecilia Gallerani, and the Last Supper which is neat to see in person. (Milano)
