I had a cat for about 15 months but decided to put her up for adoption because she shed a ton of hair and meowed all the time. I made sure to get her into a good home, a woman that I knew who was very responsible and nice. I just got an email from the woman saying she has to give up the cat because the cat sheds too much hair and her husband has had enough. When I found this out I got really upset. I really don't want the cat living with me, but the idea of the "unknown" of where my cat will be really bothers me. Part of me wants to bring the cat back here, but I know after a couple of days I'm going to regret my decision. Please help me, what should I do?

If you decide to take her back, look into this product, the Furminator:

I have it and if I use it weekly, my cat literally doesn't shed AT ALL, even when we pet her. You have to get the undercoat off. We brushed her twice a week for the first 2 weeks, now only once every 2 weeks. More as the weather gets warmer.
You can find this on-line or at PetSmart.

If the cat sheds in a very noticeable manner, maybe she is seriously ill, and doesn't seem you have the intention of spending all the extra money this could involve.
My suggestion is that if you feel guilty, find a good shelter where they keep the cats until they are adopted, and don't sacrifice them after a while.
In order to ease your guilt, maybe you can make small donations to the shelter per week, so they take good care of the poor cat.

There are only a few options available to you. Since you gave up the cat it really is up to the woman you gave her to to deal with. If you still feel responsible for her you can ask for her back, or suggest to this woman some people that would be interested in taking the cat. In the end the final decision rests with the woman.

Try to email the lady back and ask her if the new owner is trustalble and if you want get her back. But more then likely you cant b/c they love the cat and you should of thought of that before ( sorry not trying to mean its the truth) And she may have meowed for SOMETHING. My cat screams his head off when he wants out other then that he is pretty quiet maybe she wanted food, play, or out...good luck

SPCA in the neighbourhood would be a viable option. Many family would like to have the cat and perhaps they can take better care and be more patience.
A pet is not an object...it is considered as a part of the family. For better or for worse moto...you don't GET RID OF FAMILY MEMBER. That's life my good friend. Be well.

Have you asked a vet what causes the excessive shedding? It may be just a matter of changing the cat's diet, you know.

is she fixed? Some cats just "talk" more than others. If she isnt fixed, please do this. Invest in a good vaccuum! It's only hair... try a Dyson, expensive but great at picking up cat hair. Take the kitty back!

You're going to regret it either way. I have a kitten right now I can't keep. I have a pit bull & he would kill her. I was trying to get her adopted myself, but I'm probably going to have to take her to the Humane Society while she's still a cute kitten. It tears me up.

you can take it to the humane society they make sure that the home is suitable for animals or take it back whatever you want to do but think about what is best for the animal if you can't give it the love and attention it needs give it up
