My baby is over one. Is it okay for him to have a pillow in his crib? How old should a child be before sleeping with a pillow?

when they can lift their head and roll over i think it's fine, i doubt they're going to stay head first in the pillow while theyre suffocating if they know how to lift their head up and roll over! in saying that, it's not so much a suffocation risk with a pillow it's actually for their spines, it does weird things (not sure what) like gives them bad posture or bad backs or something like that. my 18month old he has a thin pillow but that's just because i didn't like the look of the bed without one lol he doesn't always use it though and he's fine sleeping without one. when he is congested we put a few pillows under the head of his matress to raise it. your son should be fine with a pillow if he wants it in his crib!

yes i think he is old enougth he should be at age where he can move around and he can feel that something is on or around his face he will be able to move away from it if need be. maybe if you are a bit worryed when he has a nap during the day etc try putting a pillow under his head so that you can watch what he is like with the pillow that way at night time you will feel more confident to sleep him with a pillow.

Its fine for him. I figure that as soon as they are able to roll over and such, a pillow is fine because they will know how to roll away from it of need be. My son is seven months old and uses a pillow when he's stuffed up and never once have I had a problem.

My son started drowsing with a trip-sized pillow top around 300 and sixty 5 days. only a pair of months after that we enable him sleep with a nicely-known pillow. he's two now and hardly sleeps the full evening on the pillow, yet that does no longer mean he should not be allowed to have one. a great number of circumstances he likes snuggling his pillow and blanket, and different nights he desires to easily lay on the floor. My husband on occasion kicks his blanket off onto the floor, yet that does no longer mean that he's not waiting for it.

My son was two. Even now at 3.5 years I'll go in after he's asleep and he won't have his head on the pillow.
