I got my belly button pierced on sept.20th 2005... while it was healing my body half rejected it so im left with a small (but strong) flap of skin to hold my belly rings... the hole is completely healed and open... but i want to make it more deep NOW... myself.... i have pierced my cartlidge many times myself and i don't see why it would be a problem to do this myself... any advice?

My advice, don't do it. You probably should stop piercing your cartilage too because my guess is you are using improper tools and techniques while you pierce yourself and could sooner or later cause problems.

If the piercing is very shallow, take it out and let it heal for a year and have it done again by a skilled professional. DO NOT do it yourself, please. Navel piercings are a lot easier to screw up than cartilage piercings and are much trickier to pierce at the correct depth and angle to reduce the risk of rejection. Also, your anatomy might not be suited for a navel piercing, which could be part of why it rejected, so better safe than sorry, talk with a skilled professional about what you should do.

Well, I have no idea if this is true but I've heard if you pierce your belly button incorrectly you can be paralyzed for life. I wouldn't recommend it. Also, go to a professional because they have sterile tools and are trained.

After reading the answers allready here, The 12 yr old is outvoted by a huge margin. Don't take advice from a 12 yr old anyway. They are stupid kids looking for infection as are you if you do it yourself.

don't do it, it's very dangerous yourself. Just because you tried something similar before and it works doesn't mean it will work this time too. Maybe you were just lucky the first time

Go to a professional where you know the tools are sterile and they know what they are doing. Don't do it yourself.
