and yet finding truly fresh fish here is nigh on impossible. The supermarkter stuff looks stale to say the least. No wet fish shops here.

Any suggestions for getting fresh fish apart from catching it myself?

I thought there was fish shops near the town centre of Peterhead, near the car park in the middle of the road. I know my father has bought fish from down there a few years ago. My niece lives in Peterhead, i visit quite a lot. Although it is quite a while since i bought fish from there. Have to admit the supermarket fish is not as fresh as it should be.Im lucky my partner goes sea fishing every so often and the taste is alot better when its come straight from the net to the table.

I thought that was Fraserburgh? But even gettting fresh fish there is difficult. Moving east along the north-east coast and the smaller fishing towns then the chances increase and the fish is yummy.

meet the boats when they dock, that way it will be the freshest you can get it without catching it yourself, if you know some of the fishermen it should be easy enough to do, just ask them if they would supply you directly.
