I have a warrant for not paying restitution from 4 hours away, i got a phone call from my ex mother in law where i used to live over there and she said the cops were there looking for me. Will they come this far to arrest me? Or should i just avoid going to that area?

If your warrant stipulates you're extraditable in the state you are in, then the police can come get you. They will go as far as the warrant says they can go. You should go to the area and take care of your business.

Police from one State won't be able to (different than decrease than VERY unusual situations) make an arrest in yet another State. What they are in a position to - and could - do is get an arrest warrant, and enter it into the national database. Then whenever you run foul of the police aywhere interior the country, you would be arrested on the warrant. Richard

If you're in the same state, yeah they probably will arrest you. If they don't have your current address then you're safe unless someone rats you out. Just don't get pulled over and try not to witness anything where you would have to give your name. As soon as they run your name that warrant will pop up and your screwed then, usually if it's on failure to pay a fine, your bond is only like $100 and they'll let you go. That's how things work in Illinois at least. My advice is to try to get in and talk to a judge, see if you can make payments.

I have no idea if they'll come that far to look for you, but if you happen to get arrested again, or for that matter, even pulled over for speeding, they will run your record, and the warrant will show up. You'll immediately be jailed.

They can & will....
Why not just do the right thing & pay the restitution? Running will ONLY make it worse, jail time could be added & now you have a record. Don't be stupid, with today's technology you can't hide.

No they will not personally come, they will merely have police from that area pick you up and hold you. They you will be extridicted to the old state. so basicly this will cause you to actually be in jail longer before you can be bailed out.

Your info will be sent to the National Crime Information Center run by the FBI.From there, it will be sent to every single law enforcement agency in the US. Next time you get pulled over, and your license is run thru the computer, guess what will pop up.
