Can anyone advise me on how to fix/stop the irritating squeaking of hardwood floors!?!? The house is old, and everyday the noise gets louder! There is absolutely no tippy-toeing around in my house. IT'S DRIVING MY CRAZY!
Please, no smart remarks, only advice

Well since you are having so much trouble with the hardwood floors. You should consider putting carpet down with some thick carpet padding. Or you could just replace all the boards that are squeaking. Since it is an older house. I would really go for the carpet and thick carpet padding.

Baby powder in between the cracks. Sprinkle some on and walk on it so it sinks into the crack. Keep applying until squeak is gone. Wipe clean with a damp cloth for the excess.
