It is an invention, as with ALL religions they are made by man. People believe for many reasons, social conditioning, psychological reasons, but always without any proof, and generally display a dislike of freethinking, science, and education.

In much the same way as we have books today written by different authors, this is how I view the book called "The Bible". If created today it would be put on sale as a book of assorted stories. I think of the Bible as the library of its day. A lot of the writings can be explained by science, history, archeology. With all the "miracles" there is even an element of fantasy there, some might say a precursor to Harry Potter!
I am not a religious person and therefore feel we have far more to learn from life experiences than from this "storybook" which as any other book you may like or you may not. Dont forget there was a lot going on in the Universe before God even got mentioned for the first time.

men wrote the bible, and the church picks the books they wanted, but man did not translate the text right, the Church's have hidden what they don't want us to know, and what is left is the bits that help man control, and brainwash others, the day had come when we should put aside the bible, and other holy books, and start again with faith in God, not mans words, then when we find the way take another look at the holy books and then look for the truth within them, and leave out the ,money making bits that has made the church very rich, and then maybe some of that money could be better spent on those who need it.

The Bible, which is made up of many books, was written by over 40 men with God's guidance over a period of 1500 years over various parts of the world. It's amazing how the books all flow together so well given this information. I trust it because it contains prophecy that was fulfilled after it was written. Prophecy much more specific and accurate then Nostradamus could ever hope to be. Also once you have been "born again" you have the Holy Spirit guiding you and you can see so many of the truths through out the scriptures.

It had over 60 writers and only one author! It was written by Kings, shepherds, fishermen, tax collectors, farmers, etc. It was written at the good times, and the bad times. It tells of the victories and of the failures. And the central theme of the whole Book is God. It tells of His Love for us, how it was taken from Him, and what He did to get it back, and what we must do to return to Him. It's a history, a mystery, and above all, the Greatest Love Story that the world has ever known.. It can be proven with science, archeology, by experiencing what is written in it's pages. It is self-evidencing. Every prophesy that was written in there has come true. These were explicit prophesies, exact with no room for misinterpretation. It has never been proven wrong!!! other than that, it's just a book.

For the best information on this question, read the book "Sins of Scripture" by John Shelby Spong.
The bible wasn't written as one book like other books. It is a collection of writings by different authors. Those in the Old Testament were people of Israel - Jews, and contain both historical descriptions as well as political-religious descriptions written by the people of that time and with their convictions.
The chapters in the New Testament are represented as the gospels first and then the letters to apostles etc. In reality, the letters were written first and the gospels later.
As the christian church grew from a gathering of believers to a political force, the leaders of the church selected certain texts that supported their leadership and incorporated them into a book which is now called 'the bible'.
These texts have been translated over several languages. Errors have been found by scholars who compare the texts in the original language of Hebrew into Greek and Latin, then into the 'modern' languages.
Despite these facts, the bible is being preached/advertised as the 'inspired word of God' and therefore 'infallible'. Despite the many contradictions in logic and meaning, this 'word of God' premise is being upheld by churches. If errors are pointed out, they are ususally addressed by referring to 'faith'. One must believe DESPITE obvious errors in logic.
The book I mentioned was written by the previous bishop of Newark who dedicated many years of his life to the study of the scriptures. As such, he had access to education the average person doesn't have.
With complete honesty, the author points out the errors while upholding the christian principles of love, compassion and acceptance. This is not a work of hate although it does criticize the lies having been perpetrated on people. Mr. Spong proclaims to be a christian and does not seek abolishment of the christian church but rather a purging and a growing up. Can't do justice to it here - read the book. It'll answer this question as well as many others you may have about religion and spirituality.

Men wrote the Bible, but born again Christians like me believe that it was inspired by God, as 2nd Timothy 3:16 trstifies to.
We believe in it because we believe that it was the Word of God.
Would you please explain what you're saying here?: "as ther isnt much truth to say it alll happened."

Some people are born with the ability to say 'there is no God' and be able to walk away, I, however, feel that if I say those words a thunder bolt will strike me down, or my dog will die, or my leg will fall off. You see? It's just something you are born with, my parents are athiests, my brother too, most of my friends are, but for some reason I believe in God and in fact He is the one thing I find I can believe in. And I happen to like my faith if you don't mind.

God/ Jehovah raised up 44 men whom he educated in such a way that they would respond to the holy spirit. Through this action over more than 6 thousand years men set down and wrote about what was happening in their times and places.
If you don't believe, you call a lot of people "liar", including God who caused men to do what they did.
I wouldn't do that if I were you.
Who are you to deny God's word when your own education is showing.
