i am willing to talk to a bank associate about my overdraft fees, i only went over 2 dollars and they charged me 54.00 which is unfair, because i they just sent me a letter when the overdraft happend a while ago..since today is sunday, the bank is not opened, but im not sure if the bank if opened tomorrow since it is presidents day, will the bank continue to charge me money and will they let me off the hook ? i had this bank account since november, and i think this is really unfair because i can't deposit the money in tomorrow, and yet they continue to charge me money

It doesn't matter how many does you go without making the deposit. You're not getting charged by the day. You do however get charged for each check that someone submits or each transaction that goes through such as a check or debit card. If your bank has a atm machine outside it may accept a deposit there if you have a card that access's it. Mine does and I access it with my debit card. It works great. If you are able, you may want to get overdraft protection for the future.

U can try to talk to the bank to see whether they can waive the fee or not.

But basically, unless u have a overdraft protection, they have the right to charge you an overdraft fee for every overdraft transaction (and it doesnt matter how much you went over). Also, i dont think you can tell them that they sent you a letter when the overdraft happned a while ago since you are responsible to know how much money you have in your own account.

Anyway, the best thing you can do now is try to negotiate with the bank and dont withdraw any more money from ur account until u deposit money into your account. Good Luck

What you call unfair is bank rules, to which you're subject once you open a bank account. The fact that you didn't bother to pay attention to the terms of your account doesn't make it unfair. Your bank will only continue to charge you and eventually close your account if you don't deposit the money Tuesday if they don't open for President's day.
Talk to a banker about overdraft protection, they can do that in case you go over a certain amount from what you have in your account. And try to get better at not spending more money than you have.

Some banks charge by the day, some just charge fees out the rear... Call your bank on Tuesday (Monday is a national holiday and all banks and post offices will be closed) or go in and see if you can get them to let you off the hook once, but they may not... they generally will if it's under $1 but not always. Good luck... and check into having overdraft protection... even if it's just $10 in your savings, that's usually enough if you just go a wee bit over and don't catch it.

Since there is nothing you can do about it until Tuesday try not to worry about it too much. It's always been my experience that many times if you bs enough with the bank associate they will waive the overdraft fee. The bank will only continue to charge you money if more charges come in to your account and you have no money to back them up.

The bank only charges you on dusiness days. They will not charge you today (Sunday) or Monday since the banks are closed for President's Day.

Well unfortunantly if you do not read the fine print when you open your bank account, it tends to shock us when something happens that is unexpected.

Dont worry, you can talk to them and they will waive the fee. Just make sure it does not happen again.

They should waive your fee as a one time courtesy
