2) after she has had and passed genetic health testing
3) after her pedigree has been thoroughly researched for health, temperament and longevity
4) after she has been shown & pointed/championed or been evaluated by at least 3 unbiased, breed knowledgable people/judges to make sure she fits breed standard
5) only if she is registered by a legit registry...AKC/UKC/CKC (Canadian Kennel Club
6) after you have become knowledgable in the basics of breeding, whelping, newborn care
7) after you have become aware of the risks of pregnancy & whelping
8) after you are prepared for emergency situations that may arise..emergency c-section, mastitis treatment, infections, weak newborns, 24/7 feeding around the clock in case mom has low milk, no milk, toxic milk, becomes ill or dies or if a pup is weak..etc

After all of the above conditions are met then will be the best time to start breeding

They must miss the first one.
But after that it is o.k how ever if your dog is very small check
with your vet as some dogs are too small for breeding
After heat finish they can get pregnant for 1 week (I think)
A male dog will follow her it she is in season and believe me
he cry every minute he can't get to her.
I got this off the net for you
Question
Hello I have an 8month old cocker. She just went into heat. I was wandering if the scooting her butt, loose stools and throwing up are normal? Oh and she is swollen. Poor little thing she looks sad. Anything you could tell me would be great!
Answer
Hi, A dog's heat cycle breaks done into 3 segments basically. The 1st 7-10 days, they tend to bleed heavier and will not accept a male, the 2nd 7-10 day segment their vulva will swell and they will be willing to accept a male. The last segment also will last approx. 7-10 days and they will be going out of heat and not accept a male. The other symptoms are more symptoms of worms than heat cycles. Hope this helps,

You know this question has been answered so many times. I wish people will look for their question before they ask it. When do I mate my dog and how long does she carry the puppies to how long does she stay in heat. There are a lot of breeders that give honest answers and very good advice if you read them you can learn a lot from them. I am not talking about kids yelling about back yard breeders or yelling on you must get your dog fixed. I answer questions the best I know how. Not everyone may agree with me but I answer thru experience and what I do. So heads up everyone if you want to give me a thumb down then do it, but in order for you to give me one you had to read this. That is all I wanted. OK I got that off my chest now I will answer your question.

She should be at least two years old. Good health check from your vet. She will be in her prime on the 12 day ( give or take a few days ) of her heat cycle.

Never. Get your dog spayed. Do not breed her. If you want more dogs, go to a shelter or a rescue.
