With less difficulty than with a 160 lb. Great Dane leaning on your shoulder and drooling on the keyboard.

PS Bassets may not look big, but they are pretty hefty guys. The males go around 75 lbs full grown.

Well you will need lots of practice. But at least you dog is just a little basset. I have a 101 Pound Doberman on my left arm trying to get on my lap like when he was a baby. And when he does succeed, I love when he does it becuase he is so cute, but the annoying thing is, He sits on my left side ( always? i have no idea why??) crushing my body in this little swivel chair, and sites on my arm where my mouse is! How RUDE! i cant even move my wrists lol. And if i dont let him on he will paw at my arm, which is actually my arm, which feels like hes punching me with his enormous paws, BE thank full sweetie.

A whole lot easier than with 4 90-110 pound rottweilers in your lap, over you arms, trying to lift your hand to pet them... hehe ;)
