"Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort" II Corinthians 1:3
Can you tell me what this would mean in a kid's view?

I am not sure what you need clarification on but I'll give it a try.
In this particular translation a lot of people can stumble over the use of the word "even", we do not use it the same way today as it was used when written. It's sort of like using the word "and" meaning "He is this in addition to that."
But as far as for a child's point of view, its pretty clear.
This is an introduction to a letter and Paul is effusively declaring his adoration for God, who is also Father of Lord Jesus Christ... and so on.
It would be akin to me writing a letter and saying...
"All praise, joy, honor and glory go to God, who is not only Lord of everything, but also Father of the One whom I owe my life to the Lord Jesus Christ!!! And the Father of sympathies, and mercy, and comfort, and joy ...He is the Father of encouragement.
God is everything in the world to me, and He is your everything."

It means that when we hurt and go through problems God is thier to comfort us and help us to feel better. We go through tough times so we can help others with what we have gone through this is also known as ministry and PS 2 Corinthians 1:1-5 is one of my all time favorites of verses in the Bible.

Many think that when God comforts us, our troubles should go away. But if that were always so, people would turn to God out of a desire to be relieved of pain and not out of love for him. We must understand that being "comforted" can also mean receiving strength, encouragement and hope to deal with our troubles. The more we suffer, the more comfort God gives us.

If I was going to be teaching my child about that specific verse, I think that I would offer a little more of context to that verse.

I think that it is important for us to instill in our children a sense of God the Father as well as Lord. There is a sense of closeness and immanence to God and it's important to emphasise both sides.
