I have a great one! They are called Fort New Salem Drop Doughnuts, I learned how to make them on a field trip in the 6th grade to one of those reenacment towns where they show you how to do things like the old days

Here goes:
2 eggs
1 tbs sugar
1tbs oil
2 c. milk
4 c. flour

beat eggs, add add oil and milk, then remaining dry ingredients
drop spoonfuls of dough into a medium hot pan with bout half to an inch of oil, turn once. drain on papertowels then roll in cinnamon and sugar or powder sugar

goodluck and have fun!

One of the quickest and easiest ways that I make homemade donuts is to use can biscuits. I use the regular Pillsbury biscuits that come in the blue can sold in the dairy section.

I lay them out and cut the hole in the center then drop them in my cast iron skillet. I only put about an inch of oil in the pan and I let them float on top the oil then flip them when they get a golden brown. I also toss in the "holes" too.

After they are done cooking I put them on paper towels to let the oil partially drain off. While they are still hot and damp with oil, I will put them in a small bowl that has two parts sugar to one part cinnamon. That can vary with taste, I'm not a big fan of cinnamon so most the time I just use plain sugar, especially if I'm only making the donuts for myself.

You can also let them dry a little more and toss them in powdered sugar. If the donuts are wet the powdered sugar clumps up. Doesn't effect the taste at all, just doesn't look as nice.

I've also used cocoa powder mixed in with the powdered sugar. I haven't figured out the right ratio for that yet. It's more cocoa powder than sugar though.

Good luck!!

Drop Doughnuts
* 1 egg, slightly beaten

- Heat oil to 350 degrees and drop dough by the teaspoon (or cookie scoop). Turn once. Fry until golden brown and cooked all the way through. Drain. Shake in a bag of powdered sugar, powdered sugar and cinnamon or a regular cinnamon and sugar. Especially delicious warm.

Banana Cinnamon Doughnuts

Recipe By :
Serving Size : 30 Preparation Time :0:30
Categories : Pastry

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
3 cups peanut oil -- for frying
4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 cup margarine
1 cup bananas -- mashed
2 large eggs -- beaten
---- Topping: -----
3/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1. Heat oil in a deep-fat fryer or deep heavy skillet. Time heating
so it will be ready when you are prepared to begin frying doughnuts.
Use Canola oil if you prefer, but peanut oil has a higher smoking
point and is a good choice for frying.
2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt,
cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cut in margarine using a pastry blender or two
knives.
3. Make a well in center of mix and add mashed bananas and eggs. Mix
well. You can do this with a wooden spoon, or since dough will be
very stiff you may want to use your hands to mix it well.
4. Place dough on a lightly floured surface and roll to 1/2-inch
thick. Cut with a 2-1/2 inch doughnut cutter that you dip in flour as
needed.
5. Deep-fry, a few at a time, until golden brown. Drain on brown
paper bags. Fry the doughnut "holes" also.
6. Combine sugar and cinnamon in a paper bag or place on a shallow
plate. Coat warm doughnuts with this mixture.

Yield: about 22 doughnuts and 22 centers.
