Poor little guy!
My two year old has recurring bouts with Stomatitis (Herpeangina), they are white sores with a red ring around the edge. It's a viral infection, so it needs to run it's course. She gets them in the summer. Apparently it is common and caused by putting hands in their mouth. I am not a Doctor by any means, Im just letting you know it sounds an awful lot like what she had.
I would call the Doctor or Nurse on call and they'll be able to triage the call for you.

As they are oblong in shape could be that he has bitten his tongue with his back teeth. Try getting him to gargle with salt water not easy but try it.
The spots may take wee whilely to heal but they will go in about a week. If they turn nasty take a trip to the chemist they would probably suggest that you use bonjela or some sort of teehing gel to ease the pain and help them to heal.

Vit. C & B complex with also eating paw-paw a few times a week will cure it. Can use pineapple instead of paw-paw, but the higher acidity may hurt the sore spots. Caused by being a tad run down.

If its white it could be an ulcer which will hurt but disappear on its own in a few days, usually sores on the tongue indicate a vitamin deficiency, get to the GP asap

Hi,
My daughter gets them all the time, i think they are caused by a swelling of the tastebuds either due to infection or food intolerance, they will go on there own accord normally over night, however if they get worse it may be good to see ur gp.

Kids of that age get them a lot. If you feed a young child extremely strong flavours, like salt and vinegar crisps, they can actually burn there tongue and you may notice there lips going white.
Try cutting out strong artificial flavours.
Anouther culprit is so called 'super sour' sweets. There full of chemical additive acids.

they sound like ulcers.....maybe he burnt the inside of his mouth....
you could use bonjela or have him rinse his mouth with salt water...
one good thing is that the mouth is the quickest healing place on the body...so if it hasnt cleared up in 3-5 days i would get it checked out.....

they could be mouth ulcers...quite painful, but only last a couple of days. Try bonjela or a littl anbesol and if they dont improve see your GP about them.
