probably not, although you could say your selling the packaging etc. however the Operating System is available for free download which the only people interested in buying/playing with/using an OS like Ubuntu are the people who already have broadband connections.

Why dont you go reading up on Ubuntu's website about their policy, after all they are they are the ones who would go after you if they deem what you're doing as counter-productive to their cause/coffers..

Besides..Ubuntu is also giving away their CD's for free. Chances are theyd' go after you if they found out..

guess your SOL, go be a VAR for red hat or something..

Ubuntu is a complete Linux-based operating system, freely available with both community and professional support. It is developed by a large community and we invite you to participate too!

The Ubuntu community is built on the ideas enshrined in the Ubuntu Philosophy: that software should be available free of charge, that software tools should be usable by people in their local language and despite any disabilities, and that people should have the freedom to customise and alter their software in whatever way they see fit.

Simple enough?

Take a look at the Ubuntu licensing page at http://www.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/licensing - it says that it must always be free of charge. Also, they provide free CDs to anyone who requests them.

It is Illegal to SELL something that is copyrighted and given away as freeware .. You could if possible write guides to help with the use of the program and sell those and state that you are giving then software as free .. Just make sure that you don't copy any guides that are given with it and they are your own

Yes, It is illegal. While it's free to download and use, it isn't made for you to make profit off of. But at the same time it's one of those things thats illegal, but you're not going to be thrown in jail for it if by any chance you get caught
