First, everyone's face is not the same. I have used toothpaste (not gel, true paste) occasionally over the years. The paste is put on each pimple, not to be put all over your face like a cream or lotion. It seems to act like a paste would, and pull the junk out of the pimple, and it is also drying.

I heard that if you put it on your face at night it helps the pimples to shrink. I have tried it once and had so-so results with it.

This is true, it helped my bumps when i was a teenager. Also you can clean jewerly with toothpaste and water and it make it shiny.
