He isn't ready. Leave him be. He will use the toilet and underpants when he is ready. Leaving him in one diaper all day for 4 days is abusive and counter productive. Don't try to shame him in to pleasing you. Offer the potty and underpants and then leave him alone. Some kids aren't ready to use the potty until they are 4 or older.

My granddaughter did the same thing, she was showing interest until her brother came along. Their doctor told the parents to ignore the whole potty issue for awhile. Not to even mention it. They said it is a control thing by the child. Kids have to do what they are told by the adults day in and day out, so they use their bodily functions as a power play. After it was ignored for about 3 weeks, she just woke up one day and went to use the potty and that was that. She hasn't reverted back. (Still uses a pullup for sleeping as she can't go the entire night dry yet.)

The doc told my sis-in-law to take away the diapers completely. It worked within the weekend he was potty trained. You son sounds like a more difficult case. And with three kids...yikes! You should try bribing him with a little candy or treat or toy. This could get expensive for you:]

Sounds like he's trying to stay the baby of the family. I don't have children but here's an idea I've heard works for some kids: keep a bowl of m&ms or other small candies in view of the child (on top of the fridge?) and give them a couple every time they use the toilet...use candy or money I guess. Like I said, I don't have kids but I've heard it works.

Its kind of typical problem. He figures that if his siblings don't have too why should he. You just need to keep at it. Put the underwear on him and when he goes, don't change him. He'll eventually start feeling uncomfortable. He'll want to be changed as he sees you changing the others and you stand firm and say NO. He can be change when he uses the toilet. He get the hint eventually. Worked for my oldest.
Also make it fun. Put some Fruit Loops in the toilet and tell him to
shoot the targets. Seems to work too for some. Hope this helps.

I am having the same problem. Mine will be 4 on Wednesday. He has been fighting me for a while now. He sounds exactly like your son.

Put underwear on him and tell him that he is a big boy and needs to go in the potty. If he has an accident make him clean it up.

Use a potty Chair. They are less threatening.
And highly phrase him when he does a good job.
Maybe have him tell you when he has to go or you could constantly ask him. He will get sick of the nagging sooner or latter!
Good Luck!
