My ten year old molars are growing and they really hurt. There not fully in yet. They really hurt though. What can I do to help stop the pain, besides taking or an asperin?

Eat ice cream, drink ice water to help numb the area or chew on a wet and frozen washcloth with the sore teeth to numb and help them along.

There are natural remedies you can take - things that I do for my small children - but you should ask a parent. Here are the links:

Homeopathic Teething formula: http://www.mynsp.com/carole/products/guide.aspx?stockNum=8885

Boiron Silicea 30C:
http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=BI-1245

The teething formula can soothe the pain while the Silicea can make the tissue a little softer so the teeth come in more easily.

Peace!

My child had an allergic reaction to Orajel, which is why I don't recommend it. Many mother's dip their finger in some sort of liquor or spirits and rub it on the gums for their teething babies, but I am not sure that parents will go for this trick with a 10 year old - sorry.

Ask your parents for Motrin, it reduces the inflammation and swelling associated with teeth eruption and works as a pain reliever as well. Aspirin isn't quite as effective. Try eating cold things too, ice cream, smoothies Popsicles are all soothing to erupting teeth. Don't worry, they will be in soon and this will all be over for a couple of years, until the 12 year molars come in anyway! Good luck!

There is nothing much you can do. Children's aspirin is probably the best bet right now. You can't stop mother nature's process. But, you can go to your family dentist as a precaution and have them take an x-ray. It wouldn't hurt, and if there was a problem, it would be found sooner rather than later.

THE MOLARS GROWING IN ARE THE SECOND PERMANENT MOLAR, OR THE 12 YEAR MOLARS.
SOME KIDS GET THEM A BIT EARLY OR LATE. ONE THING THAT WOULD HELP IS ORAJEL. JUST DAB A SMALL AMOUNT OVER THE SORE GUMS AND THIS WILL HELP, ALTHOUGH TEMPORARILY.
DO NOT TAKE MEDICATION W/O ASKING YOUR PARENTS FIRST. IN TIME, THIS PAIN WILL PASS.

Go to pharmacist and ask them

I use Biotene Mouthwash sometimes when my teeth get senstive. It seems to help. It is by the other mouthwashs in a white bottle.

There also is a surface numbing agent that I don't remember the name of. You just put it on your gums.

You can also suck on some ice for awhile.

Be sure to ask your parents before you do anything.

I had the same problem when my back tooth got infected. But my neck didn't hurt though. Just everything from my chin up did. Doctor would be the best bet.
