Crockpots are hands down one of the best inventions ever! They allow you to throw the food in, leave for the day, and when you come home, it's ready to go.
Any kind of meat can be cooked in a crock pot (along with a lot of other foods). The taste won't be changed at all. If you are cooking the sausage by itself, I would suggest wrapping it in tin foil - this will hold in the juices - then place the whole bundle in the crock pot and cook.
A high setting will cook faster and will have to be monitored. A low setting will be slower - but it will retain more moisture and you can leave it cooking for up to 6 to 8 hours while you go do other things.

You can, but I would not & here's why..
the sausages are fully cooked when you buy them. All you have to do is WARM them up & they are ready to go. Warming them up takes about 7 minuites on a medium heat in a DRY (no oil, butter or water) skillet. Don't puncture the casing, as that is what keeps all the flavor & juices in the sausage link.
They can be microwaved for about 1 minuite (even though that is NOT recommended) if you wrap a wet paper towel around the sausage link. This way the casing will not toughen up on you.
When you throw the sausage link in a crock pot, the casing will probably break open & let the sausage contents out into the rest of the mixture in the crock pot. You'll end up with a split open sausage and it will looses it's individual flavor, but it will flavor everything else in the crock pot very nicely.
Also, watch out for the salt (sodium) content of the sausages--it is VERY HIGH.
I heard one of the Company's mucky muck's describe "boiling" the sausages this way, "if you are cooking them in alot of water or juices, the sausages will help you make a great "soup", but it will ruin the sausage".
What I would do, is cook them quickly by them selves at the end of the dinner preperation & serve them along with what ever is comming out of the crock pot. This way the sausage will retain it's individual flavors.

Sure. Just put whatever meat you want to cook in there and add onions if you like them; and some veggies if you want and turn it on. They have temperatures on the outside of the crock pot and/or in the book that came with it. Enjoy!! It's delicious. You can let it cook while you do other things.
