I have sensitive skin and i've never washed my face with hand soap in years, i've been using facial cleansers and washes however I also suffer from bad acne. Over the last month i've been prescribed to use Accutane which now when i wash my face it completley dries it out. I tried many types of facial cleansers but can't seem to find something light and sensitive, and i'm not able to see the dermotologist until next month. Any suggestions on a type or brand of facial cleanser that may be lighter and less harsh on my skin. Thanks!

Acne facial cleansers typically dry out facial skin. Plain and simple.

I suggest you use a mild cleanser, one that is hypoallergenic. I do this followed by an astrigent such as Clean and Clear, followed by, hold on, a moisturizer. You don't have to use much, just use a good one for sensitive skin that is not heavy. Try Almay.

Cleansing the top of your skin will not eliminate oil based or hormone based acne.

Other than the acne, your facial skin sounds like it is suffering from over cleansing.

Your acne is probably associated with overactive oil glands.
I am assuming you are a teen or just after that in age.

Some types of acne require medical intervention.

See your dermatologist and discuss this. In the long run it will be cheaper than buying, and trying all the stuff on the market.

I've been there.

I sympathise .. but there's a lot you can do...
the drug you are on is powerful and should work to clear your acne..
there is also a creme called Retin A which is very very good... so when you stop the Accutane or Roaccutane (UK) then have your skin specialist or doctor prescribe Retin A... this will help keep your skin remain clear.. it encourages fast healing and also prevents spots.. its fab....
For cleansing use a mild baby wash .....there are lots available in pharmacies.... make sure you rinse well..
try using a vitamin E capsule for dry and sore areas.. ..pierce and open then smooth over with clean hands.. and allow it to sink into the skin before you wash with the baby wash... this is brilliant for the dryness .. you can even use a little vitamin E as a moisturiser and also on any sore areas to help them heal... it is so good for your skin too... many expensive skin cremes have vitamin E as their magic ingredient.... but all you need is a capsule to get all the benefits....
remember oily skin does not age as fast ..unlike other skin types so your skin wont tend to wrinkle up .... and thats a fantastic PLUS...
but still you MUST take good care of it... and wear a sunscreen or a hat in summer because acne treatments can make it burn easier...
but some sunlight will help skin heal..... just be sensible..
Acne is nothing to do with eating greasy food... you can have the healthiet diet on the planet and still get acne...
but you will find if you have lots of fruit and veg that it helps the overall condition of your skin .... in other words you will glow...

I just finished my Accutane prescription toward the end of 2006, so I can sympathize with your problem. If you haven't already, try Cetaphil - the cleanser and the lotion. Great stuff - you can pick it up at Target, Walgreens... pretty much anywhere. It won't irritate your skin and will help A LOT with dryness. And stick with it! This drug worked wonders for me. I still can't believe it when I look in the mirror. You might not notice improvement immediately, and you may have a few more outbreaks, but this drug works in the long run. It's one of the best things I've ever done.

I use Clearasil Daily Face Wash. They have a sensitive skin formula. I use it every time I shower and I think it's fantastic. I cleans your skin without drying it out like hand soap. It helps to control acne. I used to get several blemishes on my face at a time, now I hardly get any, usually it's just one or two, and most of the time they are small and go away within a couple of days. You may not have the exact same results, but it's worth a try.

After cleansing, I usually use Aveeno Calming lotion on my face. It makes your skin soft without leaving an oiley residue. It might burn a little the first couple of times you use it, but after using it for a couple of days, it doesn't do that anymore.

Neutrogena Rapid Clear Acne Defense Lotion is great. I use it with my cleanser and toner and it gets my face feeling nice and soft after I use it. I have been so sensitive to oily lotions in the past and I never dreamt I would be using one on my face but this stuff is so light. I know its not a cleanser but its worth a look.

I even have tried each and every little thing from community shops and that i finally end up expending extra funds finding out products that under no circumstances worked. i know it could sound high priced once you notice a facial wash merchandising for $30.00 or extra yet once you notice the outcomes you do not concepts paying b-reason it quite is going to pay back plus the solid stuff is extra concentrated you do not % as lots so it final longer additionally the facial purifier isn't an anti- growing to be older yet even at your age is needed to stay away from wrinkles making use of photograph voltaic risk-free practices and sturdy products without fragrances my fashionable skincare is "abrione"

If you can afford it then Neals Yard (http://nealsyardremedies.web-epos.com/index.html?action=search&submit=go&searchtype=catID&quicksearch=86) are great for sensative skin and if you go into the shop then the people there are trained and will help you. If you would prefer something slightly less expensive then Superdrug's own brand tea tree and alovera sensative facial scrub works very well on sensative skin and also helps reduce acne natrually.

DO NOT BUY proactive. both my friend, brother, and me have tried it and it's a rip off.
get something oil free. It helps.
