Many are ignorant. Some are dishonest.

Yes. There are many devout Christians who are better educated and familiar with the great body of facts from convergent disciplines of biology, which support the theory of evolution. These people have found ways to accomodate their faith to the natural realities of the world.

And its not just biology that Creationists are shockingly ignorant of. They are also ignorant of geology; despite almost two centuries of scientific insights into the great antiquity of the Earth, they actually believe our planet is only about 6,000 years old. Astronomy is another science they are ignorant of, as well as astrophysics, biochemistry, history, archaeology, cultural and physical anthropology, and probably most other fields of science.

It's worse than a lack of education. They have been fed a 'false education' by religious organizations that purposely distort evolution for the sole purpose of making it sound irreconcilable to the average modestly educated creationist.

It is interesting and sad to see what young people will do when hiding behind the anonymity of the computer. As an "old guy" I have acted irresponsibly in my youth, so I can relate up to a point. But I also know most of these persons would be ashamed if they knew their parents learned of what they write herein. They do their parents a disservice and dishonor them with such nonsense.

The answers one sees in this forum represent a triumph of flippancy over rigor. These flippant persons that answer tend to have not formally studied the matters being asked for several years; rather they enjoy mocking or proving that they really have no value to add to the answer.

Likewise, the questions, like the one above, are sometimes poorly formed or are laden with underlying bias that tells the reader that no cogent and rigorous answer will satisfy the asker.

As someone with a hard science Ph.D., and years of formal theology education, I can tell you that your question lacks rigor or any learned understanding of the issues. And, yes, with undoubtedly more education than you possess, I deny evolution as a factual account. I accept some theoretical aspects of evolution, but reject the attempt to overlay a theory atop the more reliable account of the creation in the bible. Yes, you read that correctly.

The Bible is God’s revelation to humanity collected into 66 books written by 40 divinely inspired writers. These writers come from all walks of life (i.e., kings to fishermen) and spans over a period of 1,500 years or more.

Yet the content of the bible, written over these 1500 years is more reliable than any other historical writings we have in the world.

Some have claimed that the bible is no more accurate that Homer's Iliad. I respectfully disagree and the table shown at the link above clearly demonstrates my argument that the Bible is one of the most accurate sources for the events described in it.

There exists NO SINGLE SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERY that has been shown to prove error, factually or doctrinally, in the Bible. There is plenty of speculation and hypotheses, but not a single verifiable fact. To make this claim alone is quite a feat for ancient texts, but when you add to it the fact that the Bible was written over more than 1,500 years by vastly different writers, yet every book in the Bible is consistent in its message. These 66 books talk about history, prophecy, poetry, and theology.

No human beings could have planned such an intricate combination of books over a 1,500-year time span. Bible manuscripts (remember, there were no printing presses until 1455) have survived despite weather, persecution and time. Most ancient writings written on weak materials like papyrus have vanished all together. Yet many copies of the Old Testament scriptures survived. For instance, the Dead Sea Scrolls contain all books of the Old Testament, except Esther, and have been dated to before the time of Christ. Consider Julius Caesar’s Gallic Wars. Only ten copies written about 1,000 years after the event are in existence. In comparison, there are over 24,000+ New Testament manuscripts, the earliest one dating to within 24 years after Christ.

The Bible also validates its divine authorship through fulfilled prophecies. An astonishing 668 prophecies have been fulfilled and none have ever been proven false (three are unconfirmed). An honest study of biblical prophecy will compellingly show the divine authorship of the Bible. Further, archeology confirms (or in some cases supports) accounts in the biblical record. No other holy book comes close to the Bible in the amount of evidence supporting its divine authorship.

Few fail to realize this and show their lack of knowledge in the historicity of the Bible by objecting when folks use the bible to support their own positions. While no one objects when a journal article or some popular book or media piece is quoted, there is always lots of flippant commentary when Christians use the bible as a reference.

When I examine the evidence on both sides, I can only rationally conclude that given the bible's accuracy on so many issues, I have no reason to doubt its validity on all issues it contains.

If and when you are prepared, emotionally and educationally, to discuss the issues rationally, I am sure I will be around here to respond to your questions.

When evolutionists attempt to stifle all inquiry that might challenge their beliefs, is it because of their lack of education on the subject of science and the scientific method?

No. I deny the theory of evolution because in the God made the world and every thing in and on it, and just because you came from some old ancient monkey doesn't mean I did too!

It is also true people defend ev. for they do not realize there is very little evidence to support evol. If we just climbed out of a pond and developed into complex beings -not to mention millions of insects, animals, birds, where did a sense of right and wrong, cognitive thinking and so on come from? Then to suggest that millions of perfectly organized galaxies came from an explosion of all things. Believe what you want,but... And they want to teach this fiction as fact!

I think you hit that on the nose, so my answer is Yes!! If they were college educated though, they should be able to conceive of a God that created everything (a million years is like a day to God)
and made it all adapt to nature as the billions went by!! It all fits to me, even the dinosaurs. BUT It's the people who interpreted the Bible or decided what to throw Out of it that make me wonder about the Bible!!!! @8-]

I think it's more a lack of education as to what evolution actually is. Most of them are still hung up on not wanting to have "come from monkeys".

Some of them probably.
But many of them simply feel the necessity of believing the Bible literally. Many of them are very well educated. It is a matter of faith, not education.

We deny evolution on the basis that, to accept it would be to deny our Creator, also that there isn't any plausible proof, and third and foremost, We can feel our Creator, and to feel His wonderful Presence is the Best Feeling in the whole wide universe.
