I should mention that I do get up off my butt and try to stay active, I'm not that lazy, it's just that the amount of

calories I am able to consumer is far more I can burn off at my activity level, in the shape I am in, I can't do extremely

heavy workouts, in fact running hurts my legs, any kind of weight training will deal a lot of pain, right now, I basically

try to walk a lot, because it's basicall what I can do right now without noticing bad side effects.

Start counting your calories. That's the best advice that I can give you to figure out where you can improve your diet. Measure out your serving sizes, and you may be surprised to find out how much you are actually eating.

With that information in hand, reduce your calorie intake by 500 calories per day, and you will lose a pound a week (one pound = 3,500 calories). Probably, you can reduce your intake without gimmicks (don't eat carbs after 7, don't eat sugar, don't eat fat on alternate Fridays, etc.), but just eating in sensible portions. Eventually, you can try to change what you are eating into a well-balanced diet by increasing the amount of fruits and vegetables you eat and decreasing your fat intake. I'm not sure what your diet looks like now, so it is difficult to give you specific advice.

Meanwhile, when it comes to working out, don't focus on heavy workouts, focus on the habit of working out consistantly. Look for 30 minutes, 3 times a week. This could be walking if that is where you are. Weight training does not have to be in the gym. You can use your own body weight as resistance and do situps, pull ups, push ups, etc. Just be careful not to over do it, and see your doctor if the pain continues.

Try to cut down on ur carbohydrates.
No sugar, white flour, bakery goods, sweets etc.
If u have to consume a lot of calories , which u will need to if u r so overweight, make it nutrition packed veggies and low glycemic fruits.
U can have spinach, cucumber, cabbage, cauliflower,lettuce,watercress, as much as u want.
Have melons, apples, berries(bluberries, raspberries)as much as u want.
For now dont have any grains, like wheat, corn etc.
Have low fat cheese, cottage cheese, low fat milk, yoghurt.
After losing a little weight, say about 25-30lbs, which u will if u follow this diet, u can add grains to ur diet like wheat and barley but only whole grains and not refined.Throughout all this dont forget to have lots of water, 10 glasses a day or more.Sleep for 8-9 hours ,not more not less.
If u can manage, start swimming , which is good for joints and wont be a stress for ur legs at this point, gradually start walking, and then biking or treadmill.
