Every time I try to use it, it just clumps my hair together into uneven... clumps... and I can't do anything with it.

You might want to try different hair gels, there are alot of different brands out there. Stay away from the party spike stuff.

maybe you should try a different brand of gel you should try to smooth it throught the hair and only use a little at a time.

make your hair damp first, then gel it.... make sure you dont use to much though....
if your going for the messy look, after you gel it, take a towel and rub your hair, like if you were drying it

get your hair products from a salon/barber.......you're probably using too much........or it's too strong for your hair.......they'll help you when you buy the products...just ask some questions.....
