"The foxes have holes, the birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no where to lay his head."
Whereas church people have plenty:
They have greed, assets, gorgeous properties, comfort, glory, honor from each other, prayers in high places, smug attitudes, smirks in their sleeves, money in many accounts, snazzy vehicles, sexy trophy wives, time-share crap, boats, far-away possessions to ellicit the envy of of anybody lower than they, holy words rolling of their pious tongues, power and prerogatives uncounted...should I go on?
The whole bunch of you make Jesus look like an idiot.
He will smack you and exile you to Hell forever.
Where will all your praise and spontaneous salvation and "Hallelujah Jesus!" get you then?
An atheist, if he be humble, has a better chance than you.

There are quite a few so called christians who make Jesus look bad. I do believe that Jesus was real and tried to teach mankind to love one another and treat all people with kindness Unfortuately "some" of his so-called followers don't follow his actual teachings.

Not the whole bunch of us -- sorry to burst your bubble, there, INAT. There are plenty of Christians who:
Follow the Bible's teachings, love the Lord, give of their time and money, risk their lives in foreign countries, live frugally, volunteer during emergencies, work at homeless shelters and soup kitchens, teach, care for the sick and dying, and spend their lives helping others under the worst possible conditions.
Or do the names Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, the late missionary David Livingstone, Eric Liddell, and St. John Bosco not mean anything to you?
The rest of us do the best that we can with the talents that God has given us, and we ask the Lord to forgive us in the areas that we fail. He's faithful to forgive, so we're not worried about Hell.
And if a "humble" atheist believes in Heaven and Hell, he's not much of an atheist, is he?

When Jesus was gathering disciples and followers, He made sure each of them knew what the cost was of following Him. One of those costs was giving up all earthly possessions for those 2 or 3 years they were with Him. (1)
Jesus' ministry was not about giving up all your riches and being poor. If that were true, He would have commanded all of us to do so, however He doesn't. However, he does warn against loving money too much and putting it as an idol up before God. That was what was discovered about the rich young man. (2)
In addition, we are also called to be generous with all of the blessings that God gives us and to be good stewards of those blessings. (3)

The argument could be made that an atheist actually has an excellent chance. Think about it. All the atheist says that he/she does not believe, having no proof. What would this afterlife be, if it turned out to exist? Proof. The atheist is now a believer. So where *does* this new believer go?

there are many churches that think they re good, but my church is out to serve the lord. in a town of 1000 people, our church is the only church,( and our town has a lot of churches), trying to get kids on the church bus to go to church. we had maybe 15 kids on the bus today, not to make us look good, but because we really care about them,
our church is trying to be a lighthouse for the community and no doubt there are other good churches

Oh they can find tons of Bible references to justify their worldly situation and attitudes.
A question such as yours will be smacked down by all kinds of holy characters before it even gets out the gate.
If you don't think Jesus loves greed, worldly honor, possessions, self-righteous glory, spontaneous salvation, and all the rest -- you are not in step with the times, you are backward...

Have you met us all?
Are you a qualified judge?
Are you a righteous judge?
Better luck next time.
"An atheist, if he be humble, has a better chance than you."
So are you saying that at some level you as a humble atheist believe in some sort of eternal destination? If so then where does that information come from?

Wow, what a misconception you have there...
Read the Bible about being saved...
How can you ask such a question with no knowledge of Gods Word?
Did God tell you personally that religious people will be smacked? I didnt think so....

You don't read the Bible much, do you? Here, I'll show you a prophecy given by Jesus to John following his ascension pertaining to the very period of history you're observing:
Rev 3:14-22 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. KJV
