Swearing is such a double edged sword...
You know what your parents told you...
it's most likely different than what your grandparents think of it
and most likely different than the rules if you're at a friend's house...
in short, it's very confusing for a kid. I remember going through that well...
if you said "damn it" in class, i'm sure your teacher would want to clobber you, however, if you said it with yer friends, they probably wouldnt even notice. Here's why...
For some stupid reason no one really understands anymore, grown ups decided certain words sucked, were offensive, were vulgar, etc and started treating the words almost as if they had a magical power. Over history and religious leniency, the reasoning behind some of the words has faded, but the strength of the word is still very visible.
When this happened, we gave POWER to words, which is really ridiculous, but true. We have given the power to stop an entire room in SHOCK over the f-bomb, and other words, depending on the crowd of people its around.
As a matter of respect, we try not to upset those around us of course, but sometimes, we still need a special "powerful" word when we get so mad our heads want to explode, when the door slams our pinkytoe so hard it wants to pop off, or when we're so excited a stupid "yippee" just wont accurately express our feelings!
To make a long story short, it's only bad if it upsets those around you, so saying damnit when you eat it on your skateboard may not be too bad, but if this all happens in front of a very christian grandma who is traditional and strict, you better be ready for trouble. :)
Welcome to humanity, and all of our hypocritical fun in our behavior!

its a matter of who you ask. everyone has different morals. i will tell you that it is pretty normal for teenagers to swear, and i was about that age when i began to swear. i did it because i thought it was cool, but now it is just an ugly habit that i have to try to get rid of. it is pretty annoying because then you have to watch what you say when you are around children or at work... so i suggest not "trying" to swear. swearing does not do anything positive for you and it only makes people think less of you. really. you don't seem any cooler or more tough, but rather weaker. weird, but true. i promise!

Little One? Let me give you some advice, from an older Gentleman. You only wanna cuss, `cause someone says you can't. Once you are at an age, where it's exceptable, to say Dirty Words? You no longer want to. And you're never be looked at, favorably, if you start. You won't be getting the nicer Boyfriends, either. Once you start going to work? You won't be able to. Without being fired. so it's best to not even start, at any age. Okay? Ma'am? I hope you believe me. it's true!

Trust me, swearing is a bad idea. It may start out as an occasional thing, but before you know it, you've picked up a bad habit that is very hard to break. Don't start it. Many blessings.

Well, swear words are just words. However, it is best not to develop into a bad habit. I personally do not care for cuss words and look down on people who swear. It just looks bad is all. n

If your a lady then it not proper, if your trailer trash then it OK.you will be expected to cuss around trashy people.and do all kinds of nasty stuff. One nasty thing leads to another.
But if anyone ever says the G.D. words around me they leave my home or car immediately for FIVE minutes, rain or shine.
You or what you make yourself into.you don't have to be influenced by the masses of people out their that or uncivilized
Try being a Young Lady,it will turn out much better for you if you do .in your life, I wish you the best

My mom cusses like a sailor...lol. You'd think I would've picked up on the habit, but I haven't.
I don't cuss, but I don't see a problem with it. When you get angry, they just come out.
