There are many reasons your hair could be falling out. Some people just "shed" their hair more than others.
If your hair is damaged, it could cause it to break off, making it look like you're losing your hair, when in actuality you're just losing the broken off pieces.
Also, if you brush your hair when it's wet, excessively blow dry or heat style it (more than a few times a week), wear it in restrictive styles (like a pony tail) or brush it too hard you could cause your hair to break off and fall out. Use an intesive conditioner and be sure to use products that aren't going to dry out your hair, stay away from anything with alcohol in it. They also have a lot of hair ties and that kind of thing that are easier on your hair than the older styles. Some have gotten rid of the metal parts that get caught in your hair.
Being exposed to stress for long periods of time (fairly consistently for 3-4 months or longer) it can cause you to lose your hair. If that's the case, try eliminating stress or doing something to relax a few times a week. Yoga is wonderful for me.
Hormones also play a part. Pregnancy and giving birth, along with normal period hormonal fluctuations can cause your hair to fall out.
If all else fails, talk to your family doctor, who may refer you to a specialist, or at least give you the name of some over the counter products.

Try a hot oil treatment.
Basically you can do this about 2 or 3 times a week.
It keeps your hair healthy, strong, and undamaged.
They have several brands you can buy.
A major brand is Revelon Hot Oil treatment
You can buy it at walmart and pharmacies.

if you can get away with it without looking like a greaseball, try not to wash it every day, the longer you can go, the better. this has really worked for me in the past. good luck and i am sorry that your hair is falling out...that must be upsetting for you
