I would say no, considering that you are performing a monologue for part of your audition and you want to be taken seriously... The only reason I say that is because of the fickle nature of people auditioning you: they will be extremely judgemental and also extremely critical of your performance and execution. My suggestion is no.

That is a question you should be asking the college. As the other people said the auditioners will probably be very particular about what they want you to perform. If they wanted to hear you sing they would have asked for a song.

That being said you need to decide if the character in the monologue would sing. I could see it being a legitimate dramatic choice to sing part of a monologue.

interesting, i have read yr answers and there are some very dogmatic people out there. basically, if it's in yr monologue to sing, then you have to sing,
lets say she's singing at the beginning whilst doing/thinking about something else, like absently, or half way through if yr character sings an excerpt from something, the way she/you did with this bloke or whatever it is she/you are talking about, or at the end, as a final thought,
but don't make a big doo out of it, you are not there to sing you are there to act.
Also, remember, a good actor really feels the part, they do not pretend/act, they think and feel as if they were that person. And therefore, if that person were to sing, then you do too.

I would not suggest it. A monologue is a spoken piece that shows your acting ability. If you are better at singing than acting I would say you should sing while doing hand motions to show your acting ability.

Consider what they are asking you to do. The liklihood is that they are asking you for a monologue to test your acting ability - and not your singing.

yes you can. and by the way there is no such thing as a monologue as there is somone around to share it with, so therefore your not alone, hence no monologue. ok i hope
