I train with shoes usually because I am on carpet in the house and I don't want to fall and slip. I also have a punching bag in the back yard to help me with roundhouse and side kicks. Alot of snow out there now so I can't use them but I try to use the a spot on the wall to aim at for height (don't hit the wall). I also stretch alot to help with flexibility.

I train barefoot and with shoes as I go everywhere with either flip flops or wrestling shoes. Also I always train in my uniform as I basicly go everywhere in a dressed down less obvious version of my uniform. What you should do as far as your training goes is just keep practicing them all in one training session i dont really see what else there is to do. O and if your having trouble getting the jump height for the jumping spinning kick you should do jumping squats and run. Also doing a leg press helps you get the power while you are up there

we all should train occasionally in our street clothes, and if you wear suits on a daily basis, you should train in one of them. not everyday, but enough to know what moves wont work in them.

unless you wear a gi in everyday life, and bare feet you do need to try it. shoes as well.

if you dont, you will find out the hard way that many kicks wont be able to be actioned in the restriction of clothing.

when working security for a hotel, we would train in our cheap suits at home, to limit error by trying to pull off something that wouldnt work. in a fight you dont get a second chance, as an error is going to cost you.

it is very enlightening, and goes to back up why I dont agree people should be taught the fancy stuff that you will not be able to use, unless you put Lycra in your denim jeans crutch.

this is how many "black belts" get wasted, their clothing makes limitation, and also the lack of realistic fighting. but the error of only training in pajamas will become obvious soon enough if you get into trouble. I understand the need for the gi in training, but if you havent mixed it up with your preferred street wear, you are taking a gamble assuming that you can pull off all your moves in them.

baggy jeans that hang around you knees is a failure waiting to happen. they cant kick at all, so the winner is obvious. Hoodies get pulled over the face and Ka-Pow... a good night knee to the face. untied (lazy) laces are another fighting doom, because if you have to run, you lose friction through the movement of your feet inside the looseness.

when working the doors, we look for weaknesses in everyone that approaches the door, and it isnt paranoia, it is threat assessment. tough guys in hoodies, baggy crutches, puff jackets, are not as invincible as their sycophants tell them they are.

so how do you all dress and train for success?

if I'm outside, I'll wear my training shoes, but if I'm inside, I'll just go barefoot.

just keep practicing by doing at least 10 repetitions of each of your kicks up to your current belt rank using your bad leg (the one you don't favor using) and then using your good leg.

you can work on your forms to warm up first, and then do your kicking or hand techniques. then you could also do your onestep sparring.

but you want to make sure everything you normally would cover in class and focus on your weakpoints and better yourself.
