He then got togeather with his buddies and cooked up a false story about you and presented it to the HR deparment of your work and had you fired. Does his actions speak loauder than his words?
Does this speak well of his christianity?

Jesus tells us in scripture how to recognize a TRUE Christian.

Mat 7:16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick
grapes from thronbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.

Anyone can wear a label, but Truth lies in the heart of the person, where God looks when He judges us. When we are judged, God's piercing eyes looks thru the shell to get to the core of that person. What the person claims to be has no bearing on what that person really is, especially to the all-knowing Lord. That's why we can't group all christians together. Some of us strive to live in Christ's image, while others go thru the motions (ex. attend church)etc. for appearances sake and live a lie. A true christian's actions should represent their changed lives thru the Holy Spirit living within us. Remember, not to pick anyone apart and jump all over them for their sins, because NONE of us is perfect, we're all sinners. The difference is a Christian is GROWING in God's love and STRIVING to live the life He intended for us. We fall sometimes = we're still human and we ALL need God's strength and forgiveness as we grow. It's a HEART MATTER.

You are right, actions do speak louder than words. The way Christians should be recognised is not through them just saying they a Christians, but acting like it also.

In the Bible, God teaches about the fruits of the spirit, a tree is identified by the fruit it bears.

So even if a person says he/she is a Chrsitian, if their actions dont show that they are Christian, then they are not Christian.

Well...preachers tend not to work in places with HR departments, most churches do not have them. However, understanding that this is something you would not know. Yes, in my belief actions speak louder than words and this does not speak well of this mans (and his only) morals, ethics and the beliefs he professes as a Christian. Please note that I realize that pastors are human and do sin, but I do hold them to a higher accountability than I do others. I am aware that many pastors are not as good of Christians as those who belong to their church or do not go to a church.

a christian is a christian when he says he is one, here is a long winded article that answers the question of real/true christians.Real Christians
One of the most frustrating aspects of conversing with Christians has to do with the definition of the term Christian itself. It's easy for anyone to point the finger at the history of Christianity and show its atrocities…the Crusades, the Inquisition, the Nazis… But it is equally easy for someone else to say, "They weren't True Christians."

Now just what do you say to that? (If you're smart, you say nothing and walk away. But I'm not always smart.)

It seems that every Christian has their own definition of what it means to be a Christian. Silly me, I always thought a Christian was one who worshipped Jesus Christ as his/her savior. But to listen to some people, there's far more to it than that. Now, they can't come to an agreement on what those things might be, but they all insist that anyone who doesn't fit their special little definition isn't a Christian. The bible itself isn't clear on the subject, either. But then, the bible is full of contradictory passages, so this should be no surprise.

Some examples of the modern Christian's perspectives... I know of no Christian who accepts that Hitler and the Nazis could possibly have been Christian, despite Hitler's many speeches and writings, despite his words to friends, and despite the vocal beliefs of many of his followers. Similarly, groups like the KKK "aren't Christian," either, even though they constantly refer to Jesus. Catholics? No, they're not True Christians, according to many Protestants. And vice versa.

I've been told that the behaviors of some "supposed" Christians aren't in keeping with the Scriptures, which teach forgiveness, love, and kindness, blah blah blah…

Well, the thing is, some biblical writings do teach such behavior. However, the "good book" is also full of actual examples of the opposite, and from "godly" men, too. Overall, it's a situation of "do as I say, not as I do." And we all know how well that works.

If one were to approach someone described as not being a "real" Christian, they'd insist that they are as "real" as they come. And in their minds, they probably are. So what point is really made by saying they aren't? It's simply a way to dismiss them, to write them off as being pretenders. But that doesn't change the fact that they are, whether one likes it or not, a representative of their professed beliefs. They may not be representative of the best aspects of said belief, but few people are, no matter the beliefs.

To my way of thinking, if you call yourself a Christian, and believe yourself to be a Christian, then it doesn't matter a bit if others think you're Christian or not. It's just a situation of some Christians not wanting to accept that Christians can be scum, just like anyone else.

Christians should show they are by the fruits on the spirit (love joy peace patience, etc) so if someone were to do that then yes I would question it but everyone makes mistakes too, everyone sins. So in a situation like this I would pray for that person and end it there. God knows our hearts, thats all that matters.

Not only should you question whether such a person could be a Christian, you ought to seriously doubt that he was telling the truth about being a preacher. At the 'end of the day' Jesus, not us will be the judge.

2Co 10:12
For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. (KJV)

"All sin and fall short..."
Sounds to me like you are bitter. If you have proof that you were falsely accused, then I'd get me a lawyer. Apparently you work for a church if your co-worker is a preacher.

The Bible says you will know them by their fruits and not everybody who says Lord Lord is a Christian

This is pretty typical behaviour for Christians. Just because they have a bible and they attend church doesn't automatically make them good people!
