I have a friend who lives 800 miles from me and I have reason to believe her boyfriend is slowly injecting antifreeze in her trying to slowly kill her - she has a severe mental illness and is not capable of making sound decisions right now and I'm trying to find out what is going on without making any acquisitions or calling law officials without any evidence. I need to know if any amount can kill her or if she will sustain any permanent affects and what might some of the signs be now as she is extremely ill most of the time, lacking energy, throwing up, letheragic, etc. PLEASE ANY ADVICE WOULD BE HELPFUL-but no law contact yet. Thank you

I wouldn't drink more than a couple quarts to that stuff.

If its injections then there will be injection marks. And antifreeze leaves a bunch of characteristic traces- in the kidneys, in the urine, in the liver, heart or eyes. Just about any type of urine test or blood test would show evidence.
However bear in mind that if the lady weighs 150 kilos then she has serious health problems on her own- possibly including high cholesterol and even diabetes- and that might well account for signs of illness.

Best option IMO would be to get in someone with medical training- eg a nurse or even a masseur, so as to be able to examine the whole body for strange markings. And even if nothing is found, the lady might benefit from the extra attention.

Coming back to antifreeze, it would be really dumb to use that, especially in injections. There are plenty of household items, not to mention medicines, which would work much more efficiently and leave no traces.

Methyl alcohol (the toxic ingredient in antifreeze) causes in the short term symptoms akin to drunkenness. Small amounts will be metabolised without any side effects. larger amounts or prolonged exposure will end up damaging the eyes (up to and including blindness), loss of hearing and numbness in the limbs. Lethal dose for an adult is around 100cc pure methanol (100%)

Call the paramedics. There is NO safe amount of anit-freeze. If this is actually occuring, this is a crime and the person responsible must be stopped. The other two possibilities is someone is trying to find out how to kill themselves or someone is having a paranoid delusion about being poisoned. In any of these 3 situations the person receiving the poison needs medical care IMMEDIATELY and the other people involved need to be interviewed and evaluated (at least) by an objective trained professional (someone not involved). Good luck.

Antifreeze clogs the kidneys, preventing the blood from being cleaned in the kidneys. The result is a slow painful death. Small amounts are deadly.
