Sorry to say you are not very likely to find someplace less than 30 miles from Long Beach with campsites. There are some at the beaches to the north and south, but nothing close to LB. I could have sworn there was a camping beach in San Pedro, but I think it is a YMCA camp that I would imagine is filled all summer.

You will enjoy Catalina if you like the outdoors. You can relax or be as active as you like. My 40+ years of going there are a testament to that!

Good luck!

Your question was is there any campsites near Long Beach. I can't think of any. Long Beach is a large urban area , and it doesn't lend itself to campsites. There are campsites on the "far" side of Catalina. Check the website for information about how to reserve a space.

I love Catalina. My daughter spent a lot of time camping there.

when i went to catalina IT WAS AMAZING. u absolutely HAVE TO HAVE TO HAVE TO go on an ocean rafter....they take u out on this tour of the island on a blow up kinda boat/raft--very safe, don't worry! and u see bald eagles, seals, a pod of dolphins ALMOST ALWAYS accompanies u at the end. it's amazing....
