Just remember his wording there. We can't love coffee MORE than him. It's perferctly acceptable to love coffee as much as God!

Reminds me when I used to work at a coffee shop: I had this hilarious button that read "Coffee is God" with a picture of a bunch of people bowing down to a coffee pot.

Now, I think I will go make some coffee!

Well I am not worshipping my coffee, atleast not yet.
but you have a very good point, however, where would you and I be if all coffee tasted horrible, probably drunk...Not that I like to drink alcohol, I got over that stuff before my 21st birthday...
But then what else would there be to Stimulate the mind...Mormon Tea???
Uccck.
DJH
As i drink my last two swallows of cold, sort sucky, but not the worst coffee, Folgers, can I say...Good Coffee is generally like, atleast for me...Sumatran, or something like that...but Folgers is sometimes what I am "stuck with".
$8.99 for two pounds as opposed to $5.99 for a pound of Sumatran...mmmm Sumatran.
Now I have to get me some.
"Coffee al Sumatra,al badee, cofee al abda aso co coffee la abbda me sei hi dei hei co coffee", is that like Coffee in Tongues? or what

You would have to ask why God made anything enjoyable. Obviously he wants us to choose him above all, that's what it means. Would you rather go to heaven where there is no guarantee of coffee, or go to eternal torture if you could have a coffee break for 5 minutes every 1000 years? If you answered the former, you don't idolize coffee over God.

The First Commandment forbids idolatry. Man commits idolatry whenever he honors and reveres a creature in place of God, whether this be gods or demons (for example, satanism), power, pleasure, race, ancestors, the state, money, etc.

In the lands that surrounded Israel, there were many who worshiped false gods including the Egyptians. Later the Jews had to deal with the Greek and Roman gods and goddesses worshiped by their Governors and occupying forces.

Today people put many things in front of God in their lives including money, status, self, power, Starbucks. etc.

With love in Christ.
