Okay, you have a mess here,so here's what's gonna happen.....If the daughter is the only registered and legal owner of the vehicle, she can give you a notorized bill of sale/release of interest. She can also sign a notorized document stating the title is lost and she can't find it. Then, if the car is less than 10yrs old, a secure odometer statement must be completed by both the buyer and the seller. However, if she is merely the registered owner, and there is a legal owner(a bank, finance co,somebody else holding the title through a private loan)she will need to have the legal owner release their interest, and provide the title or the affidavit of lost title form, notorized. Is the vehicle in another state other than Alabama? If so, the car will also need to be inspected by your local state police, and that form would be needed to transfer title. So, as you can see, it's just not that easy to pick up a car and title/register it,many things can come into play. Also, if the landlord is not the registered or legal owner, he has no part in the transaction. You have some things to work out, good luck.
