I have read often how these christians would be beaten, cooked alive, raped, stabbed, dragged to death, skinned, crucified, and many more imaginative deaths yet they keep coming back generation after generation! Today in our modern world you will often see christians being persecuted people taken prayers out of the schools, trying to remove any objects of faith anywhere on display, speaking badly about these christians that they personally do not know anything about - but they are christians and therefore deserve everything you and the world are willing to cast at them!
Here the atheist seem to be the most active so let me ask this would you fight for your beliefs till the death? would you watch the family dragged out and murdered holding strong to your rights and beliefs? Is your belief for real or another way of avoiding conflict? Would you really die or take another safer faith???? It may happen sooner than you think!

If someone was going to kill me, they would be crazy, and I would say whatever they wanted to hear so they'd leave me alone.
Taking prayer out of school is not persecuting Christians, it's just standing up for freedom of religion. They can pray privately in school, no one is stopping them.

I think this goes for any realigion really. You can say the same for the Muslims too, especially in our day and age. Our society has no tolerance for others, honestly, and it can be sickening.

I dont' quite see how the Christian's are being singled-out an persecuted in the United States. Yeah, there have been some "people taken prayers out of the schools, trying to remove any objects of faith anywhere on ", going on, but, then again, we live in America. We have to be politically correct (not that I enjoy political correctness 100% of the time), and we need to be understanding and respectful of other beliefs and religions other than our own (which I agree with). In recent histories, there has been more persecution of the Muslims in the US....and, you say: "but they are christians and therefore deserve everything you and the world are willing to cast at them!", wouldn't you say that is how other persecuted people feel (yes, i understood the sarcasm)? I don't think Christians are being more singled out than some of the other major religions in this world.

Taking prayer out of school is persecution? Since when? I think you're confusing 'persecution' with 'people making you stop forcing your beliefs on others'. Just because you can't make everyone do what you want doesn't mean you're being persecuted.

And it was the Catholics that took prayer out of the schools, not the atheists. Keep that in mind.

Sure, I'll defend rational thought. Why not? Someone has to. But willingness to die for your beliefs doesn't make you any more right than the next person. Look at suicide bombers, Heaven's Gate, etc.

Well, I am Christian, and let me tell ya this:
I would have to die rather than denounce God;
That said, keep in mind that the USA is just over 81% Christian - the majority. People can whine and cry and have a fit all they want, and take people to court so they don't have to look at a statue or something - all that nonsense, but this nation will remain Christian, and since we are the majority, if anyone tries to persecute or take away any rights to our worship of God, then they would be better off taking a cub out of the arms of a mama grizzley bear. It isn't gonna happen. My final note is this: there is no safer faith than Christian, because Christ won't allow any of it -
He even told Satan himself that he is not to even touch someone with the seal of God,
he can torture people with spiritual death, but only those who do not know the Truth, he can't even kill them literally. No problemo.

A little girl in Colorado faced death at the hand of an unbeliever out of control and she was asked to deny Jesus and she could live, but she chose to die and not deny Jesus. May we all have the faith and trust to do exactly as she did. Hold on to the Bible verse "absent from the body, present with the Lord." That peace that surpasses all understanding is knowing that death has no sting and we will be with the Lord. We cannot deny Jesus because if we do He will deny us before the Father. The Romans in the theaters of Rome killed many Christians just for the pleasure of watching them die. But the Lord said "vengeance is mine."

Taking the 'safer' faith?! Avoiding conflict?!? My dear Mr. Math, wouldn't being part of a religion in which you can commit all sorts of atrocities and still go to heaven be avoiding conflict?

Where ARE you reading about all these persecuted Christians? Have you no knowledge that every religion (or lack thereof) has been persecuted over the centuries and it was usually a Christian group that led the way? Have you forgotten the Inquisition? Hitler's Third Reich? How dare you persecute atheists with such a flim-flam theory?

And no, I would not watch my family dragged out and murdered for my 'beliefs' as I don't believe they would need to be sacrificed for me to hold onto being a kind, compassionate and humane individual. Atheists don't subscribe to any specific faiths. What the hell is safer than believing that you can do what you want when you want and God will forgive you your transgressions because you believe? I am agnostic and I know full well after reading much of the Bible that Jesus' message was to live a life listening to his messages of peace and understanding. The way to get to God was not through his "blood", it was through following his instructions. With the amount of hostility and prejudice in your inquiry, I can only imagine what transgressions you are committing against your own God.

Sure, I'd fight for my beliefs to the death. I know you and I would be dead front and center. After all, your beliefs quite obviously do not include freedom except for Christians. And seriously, Math, you want prayer in school? Are you willing to allow other forms of religious worship? How long should this go on for? Are the children there to learn or be indoctrinated. There are many Catholic schools you can send your children to. Please have respect for the rest of us who would like to see our children get an education rather than genuflect at the wall. The American Constitution calls for a separation between church and state. There are churches, the home, and many other places of worship your children can pray at. Education is secular, period, unless you enroll your child in a private school. It's bad enough that we all still say "one nation, under God" in the pledge because it doesn't take into account those who aren't religious. I remember mumbling through it in elementary school. I think "one nation, with LIBERTY and JUSTICE for ALL" is more than enough. Adding the word "God" kind of defeats the liberty and justice for all sentiment, y'know?

I'd just love to see your face when your town is brimming with Menorahs, Question marks, Christmas trees and crescent moons; Darwinian fish and pentacles and ankhs and the noodly appendages of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Would you be willing to accept city hall with all sorts of pagan, Wiccan, atheistic, and agnostic symbols? Haven't we got a right to have our symbols in with yours?

Oh...that's right... not only do "non-believers" feel that such symbols would in no way impede their cause or the meaning behind their beliefs as they do not worship fake idols, but you aren't open to allowing anything but your own dogma as an offering. Do you really think God wil give a damn that you worshiped man-made symbols? Yeesh. Stick to math, buddy.

*Jean* - Oh my. WHAT little girl in Colorado? And if this is true at all, what about Christians who have killed in the name of God? Heaven's Gate? David Koresh? Jim Jones? Are you talking about Cassie Bernall, who was killed in the Columbine school shooting? You really think those boys shot her for being a Christian, that it had nothing to do with their pure insanity? Get real. The official investigation proved that the exchange never occured, and the students nearby said they heard no such thing. This poor little girl was made a martyr by Christian society just because some demented teenagers killed her. It was a survivor - Vanessa Schurr - who answered that she believed in God. Harris taunted her, but didn't shoot. Why must you make everything a crucifixion? Cassie was a victim of murder, not persecution. This was not a religious shooting. It was a shooting done by two children who lived in a dark fantasy world.

Prayers never belonged in public schools in the first place. The US constitution provides for the separation of church and state. Removing religion from public schools is not persecuting christians. They can continue to pray in their churches, homes, parochial schools and away from public schools where students and teachers of other religions and non-religions go for a secular education.

I would defend my religion even if it costs me my life, I would die for my religion and I will do anything to protect it. If it did happen I will end up in heaven. My religion is not Christianity, but no I'm a Muslim and proud to be one and I thank god for letting me be a Muslim. I would die for god, and don't think by killing innocent people, were most of you think that way.

Peace upon the Christains, the Jews and the other religions.

* okay, Christians were persecuted yearsd ago, but they came to power and did to the pagans like was done to them.

Today there is no persecution. Even most mainline churches do not want prayer or religion taught in schools. Prayer is not banned in schools, it is just that teachers cannot do what was done to me in fourth grade by a religious teacher. I was talking and for punishment she had me stand the whole hour and write while standing bible scripture over and over. this is why prayer is not allowed in schools. We have religious freedom and not all religions are Christian and if we allow Christians to force their will in schools like they do ever where Else, we would have a mess.

Cristian jewelry is allowed in schools but pagan faiths cannot wear out symbols, now who is being discriminated against?

Christians can worship and meet in public parks without problem, but as pagans we do not have that same freedom. Here in my city churches and Christians can use public parks to gather without permit, but when we pagans try this it is the churches who picket us and sing and pray for our souls and the city does nothing, but if we were to do them that way, we would land in jail.

Get your facts straight buddy.*

Christians love being persecuted they worship a guy who was persecuted the point of torture and crucifiction. You can't get enough of it.

Turn the other cheek endure it etc etc. Its the reason why western christian civilistation is weak and cowardly and lets others walk all over it.
