Actually drinking cold water does burn calories, because your body goes through the process of warming the water up and running it through your urinary system. However it's a negligable amount really, and doing this to burn 300 calories is a waste of time. Also if you are going to drink really cold water make sure you don't send yourself into hypothermic shock.
Carrots, romaine lettuce, cabbage, and many other healthy raw vegetables actually take up much space, give you lots of nuitrients (avoid iceberg lettuce it contains no vitamins at all) and you actually burn more calories digesting them than they contain. Make a salad and skip the dressing, or use a very small amount of a very lowfat, lowcal dressing or oil.
If you really wanna burn the calories though there is this really cool trick i've learned. It's called the "get off your *** and get some excersize" trick. Seriously this requires no money, no training, and not alot of time. Stretch for two minutes, do jumping jacks, running in place, and throw in some loud fast music and a few punches with your joggin/running just for fun. Five minutes a day will burn more than any amount of cold water.

You saw this is "Thirteen" didn't you? Well in order for that to be true you would have to drink those ten glasses one right after the other to "burn" that many calories. Then, if you don't throw up, you would feel light headed and nauses. Drinking a good supply of water moderately helps you feel full and not feel hungry so often.

Water takes up the space that would be occupied by other food. It really doesn't "burn" more calories than digesting anything else. The temperature doesn't make much difference either. Cold water is warmed to body temperature within seconds of hitting the stomach. Unfortunately, the TV skipped its basic science classes, or some "diet guy" made it up to relieve a starlet of her money.
6-8 glasses of water a day is recommended. More if you sweat.
Sorry to disappoint.

Think about this... our bodies were designed by nature to work with water. The chemical reations that take place in our bodies work better in plain water than with soda, sweetened drinks, coffee, or tea. If you want to be healthy drink mostly water and then eat the carbs and proteins necessary for a properly functioning body. However good healthy soups also give your body a headstart in its processing.Talk to your Doctor about this he will most likely agree.

Did you not hear about the recent death of a woman who drank too much water? You should drink 8 to 10 glasses of water a day and that is it. You can deplete your system of salt and you can die

I don't believe that will work. If it was in the movies, it's probably fake.
