Try www.cars.com They search within a radius(that you chose) of your ZIP. They also show you which ones already have CAR FAX reports.

You can do a search by zip code at either cars.com or autotrader.com. You should have a large selection within a 25 mile radius for under $5000. The trouble then is choosing the one you want.

As for a M-B diesel going 800,000 miles, I have not seen it. I did have one that did 500,000 before it was hit and totaled. Most of those over 250,000 will need quite a bit of maintenance unless they have been meticulously maintained. Look for one with books and maintenance records, preferably a one owner. These can be excellent cars, but you can buy a lot of trouble, also, if you don't make sure the vehicle is in good condition. Have it inspected by a good mechanic before you buy. This is good advice for ANY used vehicle. Good luck.

You should be able to get a good used Honda, Toyota or Subaru for that price. SC must have some good quality used car stores in the area. Have a friend who is a mechanic go with you when you shop.

You can search through the classifieds section of this website using your zip code - www.Automotive.com - it has prices you can compare, auto recalls/reviews, factory options/paint schemes, and also car buying tips. Very resourceful!
