about 7 days would be a good rule of thumb, but that is conservative since the shell is intact.

My mom kept them for about a week. But they barely lasted there that long, and we never got sick.

keep your eyes and nose open, look for any discoloration or bad odors coming from them. usually 7 - 10 days.
