This depends on your weight.
For a person of 150lb, general downhill skiing burns 478 calories an hour.

When you're skiing you burn a ton of calories because of how demanding it is. You are also out in the cold which burns even more calories. Some estimates are that skiing burns around 550 calories per hour. But since you spend so much time on the lift this number mostly just comes from being cold. I'm a runner and nothing really competes with the calorie burning side of running

Remember after a day of hard skiing what do you legs feel like? "The burn", that is the muscles are working and in order to do that they need energy.

When we ski we are not just hitching free rides from the lifts & gravity.
