Well it's most likely a panic attack. They can feel as severe as a heart attack. But the only person who can rule out a medical cause would be your doctor. Call up your doc and get his advice. If your doc says things are fine medically then try a therapist. Anxiety responds very well to cognitive behavioral therapy.
If things get really bad and you can't get in touch with your doc I suppose you could go to the emergency room, but if you're well enough to come onto Y!A to ask advice you're probably not in an emergency situation.
You'll be okay. Just reach out to professionals instead of us here on Y!A.

If you were having the pain you claim and were as scared as you say, you would have called a dr. by now, instead of typing to Y!A. Some of this pain could be from sitting too long, could be muscle related. You don't state your age or physical condition. Pretty impossible for any of us to know what the cause is.

i had these kind of attacks myself. At one point it lasted over five minutes and becuase i couldnt breath i began to faint. The fainting caused my body to relax and my breathing returned to normal. it really freaked my husband out because he thought i was having a heart attack. The pain is near the heart. it feels like the entire chest muscle freezes and you cannot breath because it feels like something will rip inside. Very painfull. I talked to my sister about it, shes a nurse. She said it wasnt a heart attack. She said it was a panic attack. It builds up over time and can come on you at any moment.
You dont have to be stressed at that particular moment but if you have been contiually stressed and not given your body rest over a continuous period it could happen to you. Try meditation and avoid things that you do not like, like scary movies or people who annoy you, or too many hours at work. Spend time on yourself, go for a picnic, relax, sleep in, and take it easy.
