what proof is there that global warming is anything other than a natural process?

i'm not saying its real or not, i have no idea. but i haven't heard a good arguement for why it is manmade. the only arguement i've heard in its defense is "look around you you'll see it". what does that mean? i live in Pennsylvania. it was almost 50 degrees until late January. Then it got abnormally cold. this "proof" that im supposed to see is that its so warm in January, but then it gets COLDER than normal, thats still caused by global warming. i don't understand, if its global WARMING, why does it make our winters colder? we got our damn winter, and its horrible and worse than usual.

The key to the phrase is "global". The world is getting warmer... but you may be experiencing "local" cooling. This is because, as the polar caps melt, the cold drifts our way and causes all sorts of crazy weather phenomenons that I am not informed enough to explain.

It doesn't matter whether global warming is natural or not, but it's something we'll have to deal with regardless since it has been causing strange weather patterns and the slow destruction of natural environments.

All I can say is that in the past the world temperature constantly swung from cold, when we had Europe covered by a thick layer of ice, to warm, when the globe was mostly jungle.
For 10,000 years we humans have had a brief respite from the ice and cold in this glorious balmy interglacial period. It won't stay like this for ever. Why should we think the pattern is going to change? The present global warming may be only a glitch in an overall trend towards the next ice age.

Global warming is at the fore front because politicians found how to use a new platform to get re-elected. The world leaders use it because they found ways to make money at it. This is a made up problem just like Global Cooling in the 1970's. Wake up people. I agree we need to be more efficient with our resources, and we should fine and jail companies who are dumping into our rivers maliciously. I want to stop the raiforest destruction, but to say that global warming is a serious man made issue and we need to destroy the American economy and bow down to the rest of the world certainly does not float my boat. Follow the money on this one and you will see that it is all for political gain and grant money for those scientists who profit off of the government if global warming stays at the front of the issues. Look deep into the Keoto (sp?) Treaty, first of all they took jets to a non-central resort location. Not very environmentally concious. THen in the parameters of the treaty they have a clause that makes it so you can buy or sell polution credits. This is all about shifting wealth and breaking down the United States. This is painfully obvious, just look at peoples agenda. The earth's mean temperature has risen .6 degrees C in the past 125 years. Greenland's icecaps have gotten colder in the past 10 years. The Scientists who do not gain anything on their posisition will tell you that the earth has a natural progression and this is what we are seeing. The UN report is made up of POLITICIANS not a good spread of scientists. THere are as many or more scientists who believe that man in NOT the reason and it is over hyped, but their voice is not heard in the LIberal Mainstream Media. there is no proof,basically because the opinion is based upon the consensus(a word basically meaning the opinion of a group)and since science is a 100% fact and not a consensus,man cannot be the blame,but if you can scare enough people,you can make them believe its fact,a good example is the witch hunts in salem.We all know how that turned out.It amazes me how they're not pushing the agenda in these cold temperatures,or how they havent reported the snowfall in Nepal,India(something that hasnt happend in more than 60 years,but then thats not what the global warming crowd is about,its about power,and nothing else

No, there is no proof. Don't listen to Algore either, he is not a scientist. One example that he is wrong about is the melting of the ice on Kilimanjaro in Africa. It has been shown that this melting is due to deforestation of the tropical forests beneath it. You see the mountain used to be surrounded by tropical rain forest, which gave off lots of moisture that was then carried up the mountain with the prevailing winds. As the moisture leaden air rose up the slopes, it condensed into snow, where it fell on the mountain. As the forest is being cleared, there isn't as much moisture in the rising air, so the snow on top is not being replaced as it used to.
One dead give away that this global warming theory is bunk is that environmentalists blame EVERYTHING on it, hurricanes, tornadoes, when it is really cold, when it is really hot, bad thunderstorms, unusually calm weather, you name it. Like a snake oil salesman claiming his balm will cure any disease from cancer to arthritis, it is obviously bogus.

ok...first off, global warming has raised temps by like 1 degree celcius in the past hundred years. that doesn't sound like much, but it causes polar ice caps to melt, glaciers to disappear, etc. look at graphs showing the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, and you'll see that it's rising. obviously that's from burning fossil fuels, and even though the us is the country that burns the most, they're the country that doesn't give a s--- about it (or at least they prioritize their economy over the environment).

one last thing...it's the year of el nino, the weather is abnormal around the globe.
