I have my p/c booting up on its own,also shuts down before scan.OS - ME(98) any advice out there please :(?

NTL have changed over to virginmedia.I uninstalled firewall/antivirus & installed there own "PC Guard" Scan indicates no virus etc.The only way I can run it is by swiching power off for a day,then I get around 2 hrs before it starts to reboot constantly.Any advice out there please/OS ME (98) platform.I would use the restore disc..But I need to burn info from it first !!

Look inside the computer. I suspect that you have lost your CPU fan. The computer is shutting down due to the CPU getting too hot.
