I can't speak for the blue part, but I've been dying my hair several shades of red since 1993. My experiencehas taught me that not all reds are created equal. One tint that looks well on chesnut brown hair looks awful in ash brown hair. If you know of someone's hair dye job you really like, ask him/her who their colorist is. Then book an appointment and ask them to show you different swatches of reds that they think will compliment your hair color and skin tone. Besides, they'll have to pull the color out (bleach) of the highlight areas first, not a process I recommend you try at home without experience.

I suggest that if you decide on these colours, do not dye your entire head of hair.

Get extensive highlights in a deep reddish colour, or the same in a navy blue. Do not go too bright; the contrast will look weird.
