Whether it is a blood relation or not, one has to maintain a safe distance. This ensures some friendship. Propriety is the hall mark of any relation. If you snoop around too much it will offend any one. If you don't come to aid of needy and remain indifferent, then you are not worth friendship. Some reciprocity is essential. All relations are bilateral.

What a question!?. Everybody is maintaining that relation in first place. All the relations come in existence after the relation of husband and wife, who are not related to blood (according to your philosophy?). They give birth to children and becomes father & mother, then the children are called son, daugter, brother or sister. Well there is other side to consider too that without blood nobody born and get related. Haa...haa...haa...

Relations are based on common ground. Depending on the issues at hand, those common grounds can be familial, community, issue focused, or global. Identify what you share as a mutual interest, and there you can construct other bases for maintaining a relationship.

Your blood relations keep changing from one birth to another. Your father of today could be your son tomorrow. All soul are like sea waves. They are for short period of time as our relations. All souls could be/ have been, our blood relations for inumerable number of times but their existence with us is only for a limited period of time. What we are related permanently is to the Ocean, and that is the Supreme Personality. We need to find our actual parentage!

Spiritual relationship by practicing spiritual life, especially chanting the spiritual call to the all spiritual Lord for help.
The Sanskrit word mantra is a combination of two syllables, man and tra. Man means "mind," and tra means "deliverance." Therefore a mantra is that which delivers you from mental concoction, from hovering on the mental plane.
So if you chant this mantra—
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
—very soon you'll find that you are coming from the darkness to the light. When the mind is delivered from the material platform, then one can enter into spiritual relationship.
So, the Hare Krishna maha-mantra is the prayer to be engaged in pure loving devotional service to the Lord. When we are sincere in our prayers of chanting Hare Krishna maha-mantra the Lord reveals Himself and then we can see Him.
HARE KRISHNA HARE KRISHNA
KRISHNA KRISHNA HARE HARE
HARE RAMA HARE RAMA
RAMA RAMA HARE HARE
The meaning of the above prayer is as follows,
"O Supreme Energy of Krishna and O Lord Krishna, please engage me in Your eternal service." or in other words,
"O energy of the Lord [Hare], O all-attractive Lord (Krishna), O Supreme Enjoyer (Rama), please engage me in Your service."
